Halo has arrived, the open-source glasses by Brilliant Labs embedded with a private AI agent that can see, hear, and speak. An upgrade of Frame, the eyewear interacts with both the wearer and what it sees by assisting users in real time and having its own memory. At the center of the Halo system is Noa, the private AI assistant. It works like a real human, having live conversations with the wearer, which they can hear from the bone-conduction speakers at the tail of the glasses. The agent can also answer the user when they want to know what they’re looking at, the title of the song that’s playing, or if the wearer just has a question in general. 

 

For the Halo design team, the open-source glasses are a hands-free device to get information or even process visual or audio content from the users’ surroundings. The private AI agent even has memory support, which means it can remember what the wearer saw, heard, or said. Over time, this saved memory can make the assistant more personal and allow it to predict what its owners want. It stores the conversations and behavior in its memory, even recalling personal details. The team says, however, that the open-source glasses Halo are still built to protect the user’s privacy, so all memory storage and AI processing are managed with privacy controls in place.

Eyewear that can create and develops its own apps

 

Halo’s hardware includes several components around the open-source glasses, like a color display, a low-power optical sensor used for AI processing, two microphones with sound activity detection, a low-power AI processor, and two bone conduction speakers. These eyewear parts support the real-time functions and allow the user to hear without blocking the ears. The glasses also include a function called Vibe Mode, which is a tool inside the system that lets users turn ideas into apps. The user types their idea into a terminal called Vibe Mode, and Noa reads the idea and starts creating it. The AI agent takes the input and generates a version of the application, and after that the user can then edit or adjust the design.

Wearable technology that projects info in front of the eyes

 

The eyewear also acts as a display system, meaning that information created or shared by Noa directly appears in the user’s view. The user can see results, images, or app interfaces without using a phone or computer since the display is small and built into the glasses. The open-source glasses support building custom applications, so developers can write code to add new tools or features directly into Halo. These apps can use visual or audio data from the glasses, and they can also use the memory functions of Noa to track long-term tasks or goals.

 

The team says that Halo is designed to fit most people, but not all. The device has been designed for an IPD (inter-pupillary distance) range of 58–72 mm, and this includes most users. The issue is that not every person falls within this range, so the team advises wearers to use the Eye Measure app to check whether the device suits their eyes. The device weighs slightly over 40 grams, and under regular conditions, it can last for a full day on a single charge. The Halo pool to pre-order the open-source glasses has opened, and the shipping starts in late 2025.

These supremely powerful headsets were designed to assist and train us, not just transport us to another land while we exercise. With the Oakley Aether, the wearable gives you the combined power of a fitness band, an artificially intelligent assistant, and an action cam, all packaged in the avatar of XR glasses. “Optics meets intelligence,” says RAYE_, who combined Google’s hardware chops with Oakley’s reputation as a sports-forward optical brand.

The goggles wrap around your head, forming a secure fit that’s perfect for everything from jogging to skiing to literal parkour. The secure fit isn’t just a sportswear decision, it actually helps distribute the components and weight so that you can wear the headset for longer. The adjustment knob at the back sits on a few essential components, powering all the sensors and hardware on the front. This weight distribution means less fatigue while working out.

Sometimes even the smallest imbalance can completely jeopardize an athlete’s performance, which is why it was important to ensure that the Aether was accurately weighted. A Backwoods Adventure Mods roof rack for me defines the exterior of the van home, which has an equally inspiring, modular interior.

The wonder starts as soon as you step in. The pine tongue and groove walls and ceilings add warmth, while the cabinetry and connectors ensure utility for the residents. The power of the camper van is ensured by a pair of Victron 12.8-volt 500 amp-hour batteries, which draw the power from a 500-watt solar panel. A Victron inverter system makes sure your nights are lighted even when the sun’s energy doesn’t fulfill the need. The Sprinter 2500 Legends Rally Van is provided with a convertible dinette at the end, while a kitchenette is located in the middle, next to the side slide door. It is equipped with a portable induction cooktop, fridge, and sink.

Just opposite is the fully functional wet bathroom furnished with a shower, a Laveo dry flush toilet, which is black in color to match the tiled washroom’s theme, and a 37-gallon water tank to take care of the water requirements. Rouge Vans Company has ensured that its custom home on wheels is provided with heating and cooling systems for all-weather living, and also provides Starlink internet connectivity for those travelers who cannot disconnect from their digital lifestyle, no matter where they go.

WUWU Atelier tucks two concrete pavilions into the wooded terrain of Nanjing’s Sifang Art Lake District in China. The structures are a discrete yet sculptural twist on utilitarian amenities, reinterpreting the restroom as an immersive spatial encounter with nature. Perched lightly within a pine grove, The Cloud on Trees appears to hover just above the forest floor, lifted by slender pillars that match the scale of the surrounding trunks. From a nearby parking lot, a narrow bridge links the gently elevated structure to the landscape. Here, irregular concrete panels clad the exterior like textured clouds, catching dappled light and echoing the finish of bark of nearby pines in form and tone.

 

On the opposite side of the park, The Window in Valley is nearly invisible from the road. Sunk between two sloping hillsides, its grass-covered roof blends into the terrain, with only a staircase and elevator tower hinting at its presence. Here, visitors descend into the architecture rather than approaching it at eye level, with the narrow staircase operating as a slow transition, as long horizontal windows begin to frame the forest in carefully composed slits of light and green.

The project builds on the legacy of the Sifang Art District, first initiated in 2003 as part of the China International Practical Exhibition of Architecture which brought together 24 architects from across the globe to test new spatial possibilities. Now, over two decades later, WUWU Atelier’s work adds a quieter but equally intentional gesture that shifts focus from monumental design to intimate, daily experience. Throughout, the studio has drawn upon the natural context and used formless concrete to mimic the unpredictability of environment.

 

The process involved shaping surface textures through model-making, clay sculpting, and film-wrapped formwork, with ensuing imperfections deliberately imbuing the architecture with a tactile softness, reinforced by the building’s open-air rest area. Here, visitors can pause among the trees and watch a preserved pine rise through a circular cutout in the ceiling.

The interior stalls of the restroom pavilion titled The Cloud on Trees extend this dialogue with nature. Floor-to-ceiling windows face the forest directly, giving users a clear view of the pines while electric frosted glass ensures privacy. The transparency becomes about reorienting the senses, framing the forest, inviting air and shadow to mingle with daily routines.

 

Inside The Window in Valley, the contrast between rough, wrinkled concrete textures and polished interior surfaces intensifies the spatial experience. A circular skylight casts a soft halo of daylight across the space, adding a contemplative rhythm to an otherwise mundane program. The team at WUWU Atelier describe the space as cave-like in terms of its sensory clarity, with walls cradling shadows and surfaces varying with touch.

For someone like me who finds the idea of sleeping in tents or roughing it outdoors about as appealing as a root canal, this German engineering achievement presents an intriguing proposition. The question becomes whether this mobile home can bridge the gap between outdoor adventure and indoor comfort. Can it transform the camping experience into something that doesn’t actually feel like camping? The Grand California seems designed to answer exactly that question, offering a level of sophistication that might just convert camping-averse people like me.

My experience becomes less about camping and more about relocating my comfortable lifestyle to interesting places.
