Figure Robotics introduces Figure 03, an upgraded general-purpose humanoid robot that can clean houses, do laundry, wash plates, serve food, and more, as if it were a real human. A step up from its two other siblings, the recent model has redesigned hands with tactile sensors, which let its fingertips detect even the slightest pressure. It’s because of this that the AI-powered robot can do house chores, as Figure 03 can sense when an object is slipping or when a light touch is needed. Its fingertips are softer and adapt to the shape of different objects with better grip control, and the sensors are built to help the humanoid robot handle fragile, irregular, or moving items.

 

A new feature of Figure 03 is the palm cameras in each hand. They give the robot a close-up view when it holds or manipulates objects. They work even when the main cameras are blocked, such as when the robot reaches into a cabinet to see what’s inside. It helps the AI system adjust hand movements in real time and keep control, especially while working in tight spaces. The Figure 03 project is centered on Helix, the company’s vision-language-action AI, which allows the new cameras to capture images at a faster rate, with lower delay and a wider viewing range. They also have a deeper focus range, so the robot can clearly see objects at different distances.

General-purpose and assistive device for homes and production

 

Since the humanoid robot Figure 03 is a general-purpose one, it can be used both at home and in manufacturing. For home use, the company dresses it up with knitwear that has a soft textile covering and layered foam to prevent pinching or impact. It tries to humanize the walking and working device by making it look less like a machine and more like a human wearing a helmet while at home (Figure also plans to offer optional clothing made from strong and cut-resistant materials). Compared to its siblings, the recent model is dubbed to weigh less and take up less space, so it’s more flexible moving through narrow areas. The robot’s battery has new safety protections at every level, allowing it to work safely indoors and recharge through wireless inductive charging, using coils in its feet to connect with a charging pad automatically.

 

In production, Figure 03 marks a major change because the company, for the first time, has redesigned every part of the robot for production use, too (the earlier robots were built just as engineering prototypes). The company says that its actuators now operate faster and with greater force for quicker and more precise item handling, and these upgrades make the humanoid robot suitable for environments that require repetitive or high-speed movement, including warehouses or assembly lines. The improved hand and sensor systems allow it to pick up and manage items of different sizes and textures, from small parts to flexible materials. In operation, Figure 03 can learn new tasks by observing humans, manipulate objects using its tactile sensors, and move safely around people and furniture. So far, the company has yet to announce the production and mass-market release of the humanoid robot.

Apple’s $600 iPhone 17e might still have a notch in 2026, and that’s insulting

Rumors are swirling about the iPhone 17e, Apple’s next budget play expected to launch around February 2026 with a $600 price tag. If the leaks hold up, we’re looking at a phone that completes Apple’s 17-series line-up with a budget option.. But there’s a catch that’s got me genuinely annoyed: the notch is apparently sticking around. Yes, that notch. The one Apple itself moved past three years ago with the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. In 2026. At six hundred dollars. Let’s talk about why that’s a problem.

According to the specs floating around, the 17e brings a 6.1-inch display with Ceramic Shield and a 60Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, there’s supposedly an A19 chip with 8GB of RAM and storage options hitting 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Camera setup looks like a single 48MP rear shooter and a 12MP front camera. You’re getting a 4050mAh battery with 10W wireless charging, aluminum frame, glass back, and iOS 26 out of the box. On paper, it sounds competent enough. But competent at $600 in 2026 while keeping a design element from 2017 feels like Apple phoning it in.

Here’s what bothers me about the notch situation. Apple spent years telling us it was necessary for Face ID, then engineered around it with Dynamic Island and basically admitted it was always a compromise they could solve. Fine. But if Dynamic Island has been standard on flagships since 2022, why can’t it trickle down to a $600 device launching four years later? This feels less like technical constraints and more like artificial product segmentation. Apple’s drawing a clear line: premium buyers get modern design, budget buyers get the leftovers. The notch becomes this physical reminder every time you unlock the phone that you bought the cheap one.

The 60Hz display compounds the frustration. Smooth scrolling isn’t some niche feature anymore. It’s standard across the price range in 2026. Not exactly addressing the complaints head-on. The A19 chip will likely outperform competitors at this price, and iOS 26 will get updates for years. There’s real value in longevity and ecosystem integration. But that value gets harder to sell when the phone looks dated out of the box.

The target market seems to be students, first-time iPhone buyers, or people wanting a backup device. Real users with real budgets. At $600, they deserve better than yesterday’s design language with updated internals. If these leaks pan out, Apple’s betting that iOS exclusivity and brand cachet will override practical concerns about outdated hardware. They’re probably right, which stings. This phone will likely sell because it’s the cheapest entry into the ecosystem, not because it’s exceptional value for money. The notch represents that calculation, a black rectangle symbolizing the gap between what Apple could deliver at $600 and what they’re apparently choosing to deliver. February 2026 will tell us if customers accept that gap or push back.

Designed for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the upcoming 17 Pro Max, MetaKey combines functionality with nostalgia, restoring the familiar, tactile feel of typing on real keys in a world dominated by touchscreens.

Clicks offers a similarly tactile typing experience, featuring contoured keys and deeper iOS support. Yet where Clicks positions itself as a polished, high-end tool for power users, Akko takes a more accessible approach. By combining affordability, versatility, and thoughtful ergonomics, MetaKey makes the idea of a physical smartphone keyboard appealing to a much wider audience.

SANAA & Formafantasma craft a luminous exhibition for Bulgari

 

Japanese architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA, together with Formafantasma, transform The National Art Center in Tokyo into a flowing landscape of color, light, and reflection for the exhibition Bvlgari Kaleidos: Colors, Cultures, and Crafts, on view until December 15th, 2025. 

 

SANAA creates a continuous, luminous environment of soft curves, translucent walls, and filtered light, instead of following a chronological layout. The design guides visitors through the space, recalling the mosaics of the ancient Baths of Caracalla, which inspired Bulgari’s Roman identity. Gentle organic shapes and layered transparencies produce a sense of movement, like stepping into a turning kaleidoscope, leading visitors from one display of color to the next without abrupt transitions.

A kaleidoscopic experience of Italian and Japanese design in Tokyo

 

Italian studio Formafantasma designs freestanding display cases that act as sculptural elements within this fluid space. Each vitrine isolates Bulgari’s heritage jewels, including necklaces, bangles, and Serpenti pieces, while their materials and finishes control light and reflection. The jewels appear to float, their colors amplified by the interplay of glass, metal, and resin, turning each case into a miniature installation of color and form.

 

The Tokyo-based architects SANAA use light and transparency to highlight the brilliance of the jewels while also echoing the calm precision of Japanese design. The dialogue between the two cultures becomes clear in the opening pieces, featuring a gold and lapis lazuli paperweight shaped like a Roman temple that sits alongside a circular brooch in mother-of-pearl and polychrome enamel.

 

In Bvlgari Kaleidos: Colors, Cultures, and Crafts, architecture becomes part of the exhibition. SANAA and Formafantasma extend Bulgari’s world of color into an experience in which visitors become participants in a kaleidoscopic journey.
