Ohsnap releases MCON, an attachable smartphone controller that slides up to reveal the buttons and joysticks for on-the-go gaming. The accessory clings onto the back of the device using a magnet, so users don’t need to play their games on their phones using a separate or wireless controller. There’s a set of thin discs called pucks on the accessory, which contains the magnet arrays compatible with MagSafe or an adhesive adapter. The controller measures 5.67 inches in length, 2.67 inches in width, and less than three-quarters of an inch in thickness. 

 

It is small enough for a pocket or bag. MCON has fold-out grips that lock into place during play. The structure includes an internal launch spring, so when a user presses two buttons together, the spring activates an auto-sliding system. This system moves the controller out from behind the phone and also tilts the phone screen into a viewing position. Ohsnap designed MCON to work with different smartphones regardless of their camera bump heights. At the moment, vertical flip phones are not yet supported, but optional plates are in development.

Accessory with hall-effect joysticks resistant to drifting

 

The attachable smartphone controller MCON connects to the personal device through Bluetooth, which allows fast pairing and low input delay. There’s a pair of hall-effect joysticks for navigation that are resistant to wear that often causes drift in other controllers, and the team says that the buttons are built for quiet operation. The auto-sliding system combines mechanical and electronic elements, with the spring remaining hidden in production units. When activated, the controller slides into place while adjusting the angle of the phone screen. Grips use a friction-based fold-out mechanism, which locks to hold steady during gaming. Charging is done with a USB-C cable, and a 30-minute charge supplies several weeks of normal use. MCON can also connect to non-Bluetooth devices via USB-C.

 

MCON is built with a rigid body that houses its mechanical and electronic parts. The pucks are 2.5 mm discs with steel plates and embedded magnets, and they can be stacked to adjust the distance between the controller and phone, giving clearance for camera bumps or cases. A 2 mm adhesive MagSafe adapter is supplied for phones or cases without built-in magnetic rings. For large camera bumps, two pucks are stacked on the controller plate. For smaller bumps, one puck or none may be needed. If a user has a case, the case thickness may replace one puck. Android phones or older iPhones can gain magnetic compatibility by applying the included adhesive adapter. At the present time, Ohsnap has begun the delivery of the attachable smartphone controller MCON.

JAÇ Hifi Café: A space for listening in barcelona

 

The newly opened JAÇ Hifi Café is a celebration of music, interior design, and coffee along Barcelona‘s Avinguda Diagonal. Curated by Spanish designer Isern Serra Studio for clients Ligia and Arnau, the café opened in July 2025 with a name that resonates on several levels. It’s a nod to jazz itself, a reference to Japan’s jazz kissa culture, and in Catalan, the word ‘jaç,’ meaning to recline and let go.

 

Inspired by Japanese jazz kissa — intimate listening bars that emerged in the 1950s — JAÇ embraces the tradition of music-first spaces. These historic venues favored wood-paneled interiors and speaker-focused seating to bring an atmosphere of shared listening and quiet attention.

Designer Isern Serra reinterprets that kissa philosophy for a contemporary Mediterranean context, balancing tactile materials with a relaxed sense of hospitality. Covering 95 square meters (1,022 square feet), the café unfolds in a sequence of zones, each designed to create a different relationship with music and people, and with the city outside.

 

Visitors enter through a lounge hosting a concrete-based sofa with custom cushions. A sculptural Akari E lamp by Isamu Noguchi and walnut tables with lacquered beige tops set a soft, welcoming tone, while a Chidy Wayne artwork lends a graphic visual counterpoint.

The layout flows toward a monolithic walnut bar crafted by Fusteria Vidal that doubles as a giant speaker cabinet. Integrating a baked-goods display, vinyl shelves, and custom Bloom Island speakers, the bar reflects the kissa tradition of treating audio equipment as part of the architecture. The design team, led by Isern Serra, wanted the sound system to feel inseparable from the furniture, so that music becomes part of the room’s physical presence.

 

At the center, a stainless-steel table with a subtle brutalist edge occupies the space. Above it, Antoni Arola’s Lámina pendant casts a diffused glow, softening the crisp geometry and enhancing the table’s sculptural quality.

Toward the rear, a sweeping walnut installation curves across the walls and ceiling to form a semi-enclosed listening alcove. Built by Fusteria Vidal and divided by a cylindrical column lined with vinyl records, it houses stainless-steel Bloom Island speakers and low walnut tables with custom cushions. A Disco wall lamp by 20th century designers Jordi Miralbell and Mariona Reventós adds a sense of theatricality and creates an intimate cocoon of sound.

 

Additional nooks include a window niche that frames street views, and a facade clad in iroko wood stained as a continuation of the walnut interior. Four circular indents on the door allude to speaker cones, giving passersby a glimpse of the café’s sonic spirit.

Gorillaz just announced their new album “The Mountain” and honestly, it feels like the perfect moment for the band’s visual universe to collide with the LEGO world in the most spectacular way possible. The album reportedly explores themes of evolution, creative peaks, and finding new heights, which makes the timing of Shirbler’s Flying Windmill Island MOC hitting 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas feel almost prophetic. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s animated collective has always been about pushing boundaries between music, animation, and culture, and now that ethos is getting the ultimate fan tribute in brick form.

The windmill island from “Feel Good Inc.” isn’t just a music video prop, it’s basically the visual DNA of Gorillaz’s Phase 2 era. That floating sanctuary became shorthand for creative escape and artistic freedom, appearing across multiple videos and cementing itself as one of the most recognizable symbols in alternative music culture. Now we’ve got a LEGO builder who clearly gets it, translating that surreal animated world into something tangible that sits perfectly on your shelf while your Crescent Moon or Plastic Beach vinyl spins nearby.

Shirbler’s build clocks in at around 1,800 pieces, which puts it in that sweet spot between ambitious display piece and reasonably achievable project. The technical execution here is genuinely impressive. The working windmill mechanism isn’t just a gimmick, it’s core to the experience, and the way the brown lattice pieces form those iconic blades feels like the perfect marriage of LEGO’s industrial aesthetic with Gorillaz’s hand-drawn charm. The red and white striping on the cylindrical tower is spot-on, matching the exact proportions from the animated source material.

Each of the four band members gets their own space within the windmill’s interior, visible through a cross-sectional view that turns the build into a playable dollhouse. 2D’s positioned at the island’s edge with his guitar, capturing that melancholic isolation from the original video, while Murdoc lurks inside with his bass, Noodle occupies her own level, and Russel holds it down at the top with his drums. The minifigures nail the Phase 2 aesthetic, from 2D’s blue hair to Murdoc’s greenish complexion.

Don’t get me wrong, the 48MP telephoto sensor is nice, and yeah, you can now zoom into your kid’s soccer game from the bleachers without everything looking like a potato. Step Inside Moldova’s Hobbit Wake Houses Where Eco Magic Meets Myth and Craft

Just twenty minutes outside Chisinau, on the serene lakeshores of Moldova, three unusual shapes rise softly from the earth. At first glance, they might appear to be grassy hills dotted with wide glass eyes gazing out over the water. Step closer, and the illusion resolves: these are the Hobbit Wake Houses, a series of three earth-sheltered cabins designed by LH47 ARCH.

Part of Moldova’s first wake park near the village of Panasesti, the project transforms previously unused land into a microcosm of sustainable living. Blending age-old building techniques, modern comfort, and playful storytelling, the Hobbit Wake Houses are as much cultural experiments as they are places to stay.

Inspired by the timeless imagery of Tolkien’s hobbit dwellings, the cabins avoid the typical silhouette of a building. Instead, they appear as extensions of the landscape, rounded mounds gently rising from the ground, each capped with a living roof. By embedding the structures into the terrain, LH47 ARCH not only minimizes visual impact but also improves energy efficiency.

The domed forms suggest protection and shelter, while panoramic glazing opens each interior to sweeping lake views. This duality, introverted earth form paired with outward-facing transparency, gives the cabins a spatial character that feels both safe and expansive. Its architecture seems to breathe with its surroundings, restoring rather than disrupting the natural rhythm of the site.

The construction recalls rural Moldova’s heritage. Walls are packed with straw bales, finished in clay-and-straw plaster, and sealed with lime wash, a palette of humble, natural materials once common across the countryside. These choices do more than pay homage to tradition; they actively shape the performance of the houses. The natural walls create a self-regulating microclimate, keeping interiors cool in summer and warm in winter, while maintaining balanced humidity levels year-round.

Instead of energy-intensive concrete or steel, local timber provides the primary structural framework. Crafted by regional specialists, the wood not only reduces embodied carbon but also ties the cabins to the forested landscapes of Moldova. To stabilize the soil on top of the roofs, LH47 ARCH developed a custom mesh system that allows grasses to take root. With time, the houses vanish into the hillsides, becoming living mounds, a literal return to the earth.

If the exteriors blend into the landscape, the interiors celebrate the human hand. Each cabin’s beds, shelves, and cabinetry were built by Lemnaria, a local workshop specializing in timber craft. Handmade furniture ensures the spaces maintain a tactile connection to tradition, while subtle variations mean no two interiors are alike.

The kitchens embody this philosophy of individuality. Rather than replicating a standard model, Lemnaria designed distinct versions for each cabin, altering shelves, cabinets, and fittings to give every space its own personality. Playful tiles and appliances, coordinated to match the color of each door, add moments of surprise and delight. It’s vernacular improvisation reimagined for modern living.

Even the bathrooms extend this narrative of craft. Ceramic artist Eugenia Burlacenco created bespoke lighting fixtures and decorative accents, infusing each bathroom with artisanal detail. These handmade touches elevate the most functional spaces into intimate encounters with artistry, grounding the architecture in local cultural expression.

What makes the Hobbit Wake Houses compelling isn’t just their ecological footprint; it’s how sustainability is woven into an experiential story. Guests don’t simply stay in eco-cabins; they inhabit landforms that echo myth while embodying local heritage. The cabins demonstrate how straw, clay, and timber, materials too often dismissed as “rustic”, can create refined, contemporary spaces that feel both magical and practical.

In an age where sustainability is often equated with technology-heavy solutions, LH47 ARCH has shown another path. Here, ecological design emerges from the land itself, amplified by craft and culture. The Hobbit Wake Houses are not monuments to architecture but rather modest mounds that quietly redefine what small-scale sustainable living can look like. By merging mythic imagery with ecological building practices, LH47 ARCH has created something that transcends categories. These are not just tourist cabins; they are prototypes of a future where architecture collaborates with its environment, honors regional traditions, and tells stories that resonate across cultures.

Chief Design Officer Nader Faghihzadeh puts it simply: “Design means capturing the energy of the moment and translating it into a form that touches and inspires.” The Vision Xpectra achieves this through what AVATR calls prismatic design language – a complete visual philosophy that turns the entire vehicle into an interactive light sculpture that responds to your presence, mood, and behavior.

Prismatic Design Language Creates Living Architecture

AVATR’s design team approached the Vision Xpectra as living architecture rather than traditional automotive sculpture, and this philosophical shift shows in every surface and interaction point. The exterior bodywork applies what they describe as diamond-cut precision, creating sharp geometric surfaces that capture and redirect light like faceted gemstones – but these aren’t static design elements. The entire surface treatment works with embedded shadow lights beneath body panels to create subtle illumination that follows the car’s geometric lines, essentially turning the vehicle into a three-dimensional light canvas. The prismatic glass cabin uses advanced glazing technology that allows light to refract in specific patterns, creating atmospheric effects that change throughout the day and respond to the vehicle’s emotional state through its AI system.

The interior design philosophy centers on what AVATR calls the Alabaster Shimmer concept, which combines multiple textures and materials to create a cocoon-like environment that feels both protective and expansive. Nubuck leather covers the seats and door panels with a soft, sanded texture that contrasts beautifully with three-dimensional knitted fabrics used throughout the cabin space. Inflatable components integrated into various surfaces can change shape based on user preferences or driving conditions, while lavender glass elements refract light in carefully calculated ways to enhance the emotional atmosphere. When doors open, mechanical lamellas – thin strips or fins – extend outward, physically expanding the interior space and creating a seamless bridge between inside and outside environments.

The central AI system, called the Vortex, functions as both the brain and the artistic heart of the interior design. This isn’t just a control interface – it’s a living sculpture that creates custom visual particles and lighting effects based on voice commands and behavioral patterns. The system learns your preferences over time, similar to how streaming services adapt to your viewing habits, but applies this intelligence to every aspect of the vehicle’s visual and sensory environment. We’re talking about a company that took one of their biggest commercial failures from 1995 and somehow turned it into a love letter to both retro gaming and the democratization of VR experiences.

The timing here is perfect in the weirdest way possible. Google Cardboard launched a decade ago and completely changed how we think about accessible VR. That simple folded cardboard contraption proved you didn’t need a $500 headset to experience virtual reality, you just needed some creativity and a smartphone. The Terminal BTG Pactual at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo is the first exclusive airport terminal in Latin America. Developed by Perkins&Will São Paulo with interiors by Pascali Semerdjian Arquitetos, the project combines architectural and interior strategies that balance efficiency, comfort, and environmental integration. The building is defined by inverted roofs that evoke the geometry of open wings, symbolizing flight while providing practical structural and environmental benefits. These roofs rest on a double-height framework of metal, wood, and glass, balancing transparency with solidity. Large window surfaces bring in natural light and maintain continuous visual connections to the sky, while a solid base grounds the structure and incorporates the main circulation, drop-off, and operational areas.

 

A central garden organizes the terminal’s interior and functions as both a circulation divider and a biophilic feature. It links the check-in lounge with boarding and arrival areas, while introducing native Brazilian species such as sibipiruna, white ipê, and brazilwood. These choices emphasize ecological value, respect biodiversity, and comply with aviation safety standards by avoiding species that attract birds. This strategy allows the building to operate as a functional terminal while simultaneously reinforcing its connection with the local environment.

Custom Interiors and Furniture decorate Terminal BTG Pactual

 

For the interior, studio Perkins&Will São Paulo collaborates with practice Pascali Semerdjian Arquitetos, creating a strategy that emphasizes scale, materiality, and continuity. While the double-height volumes express openness, half-height wooden panels introduce a more intimate scale in lounges and waiting areas. This balance ensures that large operational spaces retain a welcoming quality. Materials are central to the atmosphere. Wood surfaces are used extensively for warmth and consistency, while stone details add contrast and identity. The combination creates a sequence of spaces that are both operationally efficient and visually distinctive.

 

All furniture was custom-designed specifically for the terminal through artisanal processes. Carpentry techniques were employed to produce elements such as bars, shelving, sinks, private room fittings, armchairs, chaises, coffee tables, and lighting fixtures. These pieces establish a coherent dialogue with the architecture, reinforcing the integration between structure, interior, and furniture. Lighting plays both a technical and expressive role. Fixtures are positioned to emphasize the floating quality of the roof while meeting airport safety and operational standards. By day, natural light dominates through expansive glazing, while at night, controlled artificial illumination highlights the building’s architectural rhythm and creates a sense of continuity with its surroundings.

 

 

Airport Hub Aligns Architecture and Environment in São Paulo

 

The terminal accommodates a full range of processing, circulation, security, and hospitality functions, distributed across a continuous plan. Spaces include lounges, meeting rooms, and suites, which are designed to support both privacy and efficiency. The layout organizes these programs with circulation flows, ensuring clarity and comfort for travelers.

 

Through the collaboration of Perkins&Will and Pascali Semerdjian Arquitetos, the Terminal BTG Pactual reinterprets the conventional air travel environment. By combining symbolic form, biophilic strategies, tailored interiors, and operational precision, the project establishes a landmark in Latin American aviation design, aligning functionality with architectural and environmental intent.
