Triumph debuts 2-in-1 modular TXP electric off-road bikes for kids and young adults

Triumph Motorcycles acquired OSET in 2022 for a reason, and that has now materialized into a new age electric bike range that caters to kids, teenagers, and young adults. Before this, the British motorcycle maker had never ventured into the electric bike segment. With OSET’s vast experience in making trials bikes on the proven electric platform, Triumph has finally released the TXP range after three years.

Unlike most of the manufacturers who scale down the adult bike frames for younger riders, this bike range has custom geometry and a frame. There are four models in the lineup: TXP-12, TXP-16, TXP-20, and TXP-24. Every model comes with Field-Oriented Control (FOC) for seamless motor operation and Active Power Stabilization (APS). This results in consistent battery output when the battery depletes.

The bikes are IP67-rated for electronics and battery, thereby making them fit for any off-road skirmishes. For hardcore riders who love to take electric bikes to extreme trails, there is an easily removable lithium-ion battery pack for swapping batteries. What makes this new lineup stand out is the modular 2-in-1 configuration. The seat and mudguards can be removed to convert the dirt bike into a standing trials bike, called the Trials Mode. The normal configuration is dubbed the Xplore mode, given its capability in off-roading conditions.

The smallest of them, TXP-12, is built for kids as young as three, having a 600W motor. The most powerful among them is the TXP-24, which is powered by a 1600W brushless motor that handles adults weighing up to 198lbs. Suspension on each of the models scales from 50mm front/60mm rear on the TXP-12, to 160mm front/145mm rear on the TXP-24. For a better ride experience, the TXP-24 has air-sprung forks with rebound and compression adjustability. TXP-12 comes with cable-operated discs, while the higher-end TXP-24 has four-piston calipers. The mid-range models have hydraulic two-piston setups.

These bikes are designed to grow with the riders, with features and functions in place for maximum safety. There are PIN-protected speed controls, magnetic safety lanyards, ball-end brake levers, and child-specific grip sizing for the kids in particular. The livery also gives off a very Gen-Z vibe, making it ideal for youngsters.  The more mature TXP-20 and TXP-24 models have diagnostic-ready electronics to show any display fault codes or service alerts. This makes troubleshooting in the wild easier, and perhaps life-saving.

The TXP-12 and TXP-16 bikes in the TXP range can be pre-ordered right now for  $1,695 and $2,295, respectively, with pre-Christmas deliveries promised by Triumph. The TXP-20 and TXP-24 models are not yet available, with the U.K. pricing set at £3,195 (approximately $4,300) and £3,695 (approximately $4,950).

The Jami At-Taqwa Mosque in Cibinong, Indonesia, designed by Ismail Solehudin Architecture, explores the relationship between architectural form, spirituality, and community. The design concept draws from the word masjid, ‘place of prostration,’ and expands upon the spiritual act of sujud (prostration). Inspired by the writings of Imam Al-Ghazali, the architects interpret sujud as an act that metaphorically folds the vastness of the cosmos, bringing the worshiper closer to the Divine. This metaphor of ‘folding the expanse’ serves as the foundation of the project’s architectural language. The mosque’s primary form is characterized by folding roofs and pleated walls. These gestures establish a dynamic architectural identity while shaping a spatial experience defined by natural light, shadow, and material warmth. The folded surfaces evoke movement and continuity, reflecting themes of devotion and community presence.

Located along a busy urban street, the mosque incorporates an arcade and a planted buffer to minimize noise and dust from surrounding traffic. The design team at Ismail Solehudin Architecture extends the mosque’s folding motif through a canopy structure above the arcade, creating a gradual spatial transition from exterior to interior. This threshold space functions as both environmental protection and a contemplative approach to the prayer hall. The arcade also organizes circulation to the ablution facilities and prayer areas. Separate pathways for men and women maintain spatial privacy and prevent overlap of movement. The ground floor accommodates the men’s prayer hall, while the upper level houses the women’s prayer area, both connected through the articulated arcade system.

 

The minaret is positioned along the qibla axis, serving as both a structural and symbolic marker of orientation. Its form continues the folding geometry of the facade, emphasizing verticality and reinforcing the spiritual axis of the mosque. Exposed brick with perforations provides natural ventilation and visual texture, while exposed concrete is used for the roof structure. The combination of these materials produces a balanced atmosphere, robust yet permeable, grounded in its urban setting while inviting openness and light. The resulting architecture supports communal worship while remaining connected to its environment, translating abstract spiritual concepts into built form.

Lexar ES5 portable SSD is MagSafe compatible and offers lightning-fast performance

Lexar has been developing portable solid-state drives for mobile creators, especially the iPhone-centric ones. It first made us a fan with the Go Portable SSD, and now the company has officially launched the ES5 Magnetic Portable SSD, which was first announced in July this year. The SSD for the iPhone, essentially, is available in two storage capacities: the 1TB capacity ES5 is priced at $120, while the larger, 2TB variant will set you back $200. A 4TB variant is in the plans, but it wouldn’t start shipping before Q1 of 2026.

The new SSD is bigger and faster than the Go Portable. It is twice as fast and slightly longer in length, but can effortlessly stick to the back of your iPhone (thanks to MagSafe compatibility) and be your memory companion on the go. The ES5 Magnetic SSD is, of course, inclined more toward the Apple ecosystem, but it doesn’t completely ignore other possibilities. It caters to your storage needs of professional-grade mobile video recordings, no matter the ecosystem.

According to the press information, the ES5 Magnetic Portable SSD is compatible with any type of USB-equipped device, like a tablet or smartphone. It can deliver a read and write speed of up to 2000MB/s. The speed is just a factor. What makes the SSD an even more compelling choice is its durability. The ES5 has an IP65 dust and water-resistant rating and is designed with a silicone shell to survive a 10-foot fall on a hard surface.

The drive weighs 49 grams. It is 3.34 x 2.12 x 0.43 inches in size, making it easily portable, whether you choose to carry it in a pocket or a backpack. It is provided with a USB-C cord for charging. The cable also serves as a lanyard for the drive. Besides the speed and durability, it’s the ES5’s quirky magnetic design that allows the drive to snap onto your iPhone with support for MagSafe. For compatibility with other devices, Lexar provides the ES5 with a metal ring that sticks to other devices or surfaces where you may want to mount it.

Stuck to the back of an iPhone, the drive can handle tasks like recording 4K ProRes videos and storing high-quality images. According to the information available, the Lexar magnetic SSD clipped to the iPhone 150 Pro and 15 Pro Max models can unlock 4K recording at 60fps, and with the iPhone 16 and the new 17 models, it can handle up to 120fps.

When it is paired outside of the Apple ecosystem, for example, with the Samsung Galaxy S25 models, the ES5 can capture 8K videos at 30fps. Additionally, with the PCs that support USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, the drive can offer high transfer rates that are comparable to and even better than many capable portable SSDs on the market.

Industrial Design Student Work: Emergency Housing from Simple PVC Pipes

This CINTRE project is by Baptiste Marx, done when he was pursuing his Masters of Industrial Design at France’s ENSCI. Marx’s pre-ID degree was in “composite materials project management,” and both disciplines inform his approach.

“I base my practice on contextualized object design,” he writes. “Sensitive to an aesthetic resulting from materials and manufacturing processes, I favor an experimental and reflective approach, where research occupies a central place. Between sensitive and technical creations, I seek to develop a multidisciplinary and conscious design.”

CINTRE is part of an approach to designing emergency housing, intended to respond to crisis situations following natural disasters or those linked to conflict. In a context where sustainable reconstruction is delayed, if not impossible, shelter becomes an immediate necessity. CINTRE responds to this emergency by offering a system that allows shelters to be built quickly while guaranteeing long-term safety and dignity.

Using a process of hot bending PVC tubes, CINTRE offers simple and structural assemblies, allowing the interior and exterior construction of shelters in emergency situations. Resistant to moisture and corrosion thanks to its intrinsic properties, PVC pipe is a resource frequently available at disaster sites, where it can be recovered and reused. Lightweight, modular, and easy to transform without heavy tools or specialized know-how, PVC lends itself to rapid implementation. Hose clamps (flex clamps), used as a joining system, are a robust, economical, and easy-to-deploy solution for large-scale humanitarian missions.

CINTRE is not a fixed solution: it is an exploratory project aimed at encouraging the emergence of new types of emergency housing. Its purpose is to be appropriated, adapted, and enriched by the people concerned, in order to best respond to local realities and specific needs.

Developed in partnership with the French Red Cross, CINTRE is intended to be a tool serving affected populations, to be activated in various contexts and aspires to be part of a collaborative approach.

Xiaomi has been referred to as the “Apple of China,” and it appears they’re taking it seriously. This is their new 100W Bluetooth Sound 2 Max speaker, of unibody aluminum construction and seemingly designed at the Bauhaus:

The company offers three different magnetically-attached faceplates, each of them stark and minimalist.

The speaker runs 1,999 yuan (USD $275), but it’s not clear if it’s coming to the U.S. or not. We are, after all, no longer their most important market. It’s interesting to watch the divergence of the two countries’ product landscapes.
