Rezvani – the Californian outfit best known for giving civilian vehicles the paranoia of a Cold War bunker – looked at the Urus and said: needs more trauma. The result is the Knight, a street-legal military SUV with the fashion sense of a Bond villain and the restraint of a Michael Bay explosion reel.

The original Urus is already borderline excessive. Twin-turbo V8, 657 horsepower, and a design that looks like it was sketched during a Red Bull binge. It oozes aggression in that expensive European way, like a luxury watch that could punch you. But Rezvani doesn’t do theatrical threat. It does real-world menace. So they gutted the Urus’s sleek confidence and wrapped it in a jagged, carbon-fiber skin that radiates bad intentions. You don’t just drive the Knight. You deploy it.

The body is an origami of malice. Sharp lines, sci-fi taillights, a front fascia that looks like it’s been squinting into a war zone for too long. The package features run-flat military tires, a smoke screen system, thermal imaging, EMP shielding, magnetic deadbolts, and even a pepper spray dispenser – because what’s a luxury SUV without chemical warfare? The result is less car, more mobile fortress. If Skynet built a family vehicle, this would be it.

The Knight is absurd. But it’s a very intentional kind of absurd. Sure, it’s impractical. Yes, it’s over-the-top. FundamentAI shows how AI and nature can co-design cities of tomorrow

Even though you’ve probably seen “AI this” and “AI that” for the past couple of years, we’re still barely scratching the surface of what Artificial Intelligence can contribute to mankind. Whether you feel strongly against it or you’ve gotten used to it or you’re lukewarm about it, we do know that it’s here to stay. And it’s also much, much more than just getting ChatGPT to write your email or getting a Ghibli-fied photo for your Facebook post. We’re discovering ways it will be able to do good while also hopefully walking that balance between creativity and humanity and all the other ethical issues we’re facing when it comes to its use.

At the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, ecoLogicStudio introduces “FundamentAI,” a groundbreaking installation that merges artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and environmental data to envision a new paradigm of responsive urbanism. This project aligns seamlessly with the Biennale’s theme, “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.,” curated by Carlo Ratti, which emphasizes the integration of diverse forms of intelligence to address contemporary architectural challenges.

“FundamentAI” is a collaborative effort between ecoLogicStudio, the Synthetic Landscape Lab at Innsbruck University, and the Urban Morphogenesis Lab at the Bartlett, UCL. Installed at the Arsenale, the project draws inspiration from Venice’s traditional wooden ‘bricole’ foundation poles, reinterpreting them as bio-fabricated, biodegradable 3D-printed columns embedded with responsive technology. These columns are designed to interact dynamically with environmental data, particularly signals from the Venetian lagoon’s microorganisms, such as acidity levels and microbial activity.

The installation employs a suite of AI technologies to process and visualize real-time ecological data. Tools like DeepSeek-R1 and GPT-4o analyze user-submitted images and texts, while FLUX.1-dev on ComfyUI generates corresponding images. TRELLIS handles 3D modeling, and Kling AI produces animation outputs. This multimodal AI system enables the creation of adaptive architectural forms that respond to both user input and environmental conditions, effectively giving the lagoon a participatory role in the design process.

Architecturally, “FundamentAI” features a full-scale immersive environment where the 3D-printed columns respond to environmental changes with subtle lighting effects. These visual cues translate data streams, such as light intensity, acidity, and microbial growth, into atmospheric shifts within the space, creating a sensory experience that reflects the dynamic interplay between architecture and ecology. By integrating AI and ecological data into the fabric of urban design, “FundamentAI” proposes a shift from static, human-centric architecture to a more symbiotic and ecologically attuned approach. MSCHF partners with AMG for furniture and apparel collection

The art collective known for their bold and often provocative creations, MSCHF, has once again stirred the pot with their latest project: a collaboration with the iconic automotive brand Mercedes-AMG. However, in a surprising twist, the result isn’t a souped-up vehicle but a collection of furniture and apparel dubbed “Not for Automotive Use.”

Debuting at NYCxDesign Week 2025, the exhibition, held at MSCHF’s Brooklyn studio, marks the first time the collective has opened its doors to the public. The dimly lit space spotlights the unusual yet intriguing creations born from a trip to AMG headquarters in Germany. Inspired by Italy’s 1960s Radical Design movement, known for its playful repurposing of industrial materials, MSCHF has transformed genuine AMG components into everyday objects.

The collection features nearly two dozen household items, each carrying the unmistakable DNA of high-performance vehicles. A striking loveseat incorporates actual car headlights into its armrests, giving it the appearance of a low-slung automobile. Seatbelt straps find new life as the foundation for a chair and a clothes rack, paying homage to the safety and design inherent in AMG vehicles. Even the mundane becomes extraordinary, with accelerator and brake pedals ingeniously used to activate the lid of a trash bin. Other highlights include a standing lamp featuring an AMG wheel as its surround and a grill crafted with automotive elements.

MSCHF emphasizes that these pieces are “conceptual explorations,” aligning with their history of turning cultural absurdities into commercial commentary. Each custom-made item utilizes parts sourced directly from AMG manufacturers, underscoring the authenticity and the unexpected detour these components have taken. While undeniably functional, the pieces blur the lines between utility, sculpture, and satire, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between luxury, consumerism, and the objects that populate our daily lives.

In a poignant intersection of art and environmental awareness, Franco-Croatian artist and paper designer Ana Brecevic has unveiled her recent series, “Plasticum.” This serves as a powerful visual commentary on the ever-growing crisis of plastic pollution in the Earth’s oceans. Brecevic, whose artistic focus revolves around the living world, draws inspiration from her life between two countries and a deep concern for the escalating loss of biodiversity in both regions, particularly the deterioration of the Croatian Mediterranean coast.
