I love chicken as much as the next person. In fact, it’s the kind of I could probably eat it every day. Being a chicken lover, of course KFC is one of my favorite brands when it comes to fast food fried chicken. Do I love it enough though to actually wear merch from the brand. Loungefly, a Funko-owned brand that comes up with the coolest (craziest) playful fandom merch, believes there are a lot of people out there just looking for KFC-branded merchandise to carry around.

The KFC x Loungefly collection is an assortment of accessories for anyone who may be a fan of the brand and wants to add a touch of fun and chicken flavor to their daily fit. The finger-licking and mouthwatering line has three fun pieces: a drumstick-shaped crossbody bag, a mini backpack with a bucket of chicken as backdrop, and a Colonel Sanders-branded wallet.

The KFC Drumstick Sherpa Crossbody Bag is designed in the shape of the famous KFC drumstick. It is maid from faux leather (polyurethane) and covered in sherpa material with some details embroidered. The branding comes in the adjustable crossbody strap as it is covered in the iconic KFC logo. It also has an enamel charm attached to it, featuring, you guessed it, the KFC logo with Colonel Sanders’ equally iconic face. It’s the perfect accessory for those who want to make a bold and fun fashion statement.

If you need something a little bigger, you have the KFC Chicken Bucket Sherpa Mini Backpack. You get the classic KFC bucket immortalized in the bag in sherpa material. You even get some pieces of fried chicken peeking out of the bucket. At the back of the backpack, you get “It’s finger lickin’ good” written, in case you need a reminder that their chicken is that good. With detailed zipper charms and custom-themed lining, this backpack shows a true passion for the fandom.

Lastly, you have the KFC Colonel Sanders Wallet, in case the colonel is your fast food bias. The logo is the main feature, embroidered on the front with the pearlescent and foul details. It has a bifold snap closure and inside you have seven card slots with one clear slot for an ID, but with the die-cut shape of a drumstick. There’s also a zippered section to secure some items. It’s a stylish way to keep your cards and cash organized while showing off your love for KFC.

So, the question remains: would I, a self-proclaimed chicken enthusiast, rock this KFC x Loungefly collection? Honestly, while I appreciate the creativity and the sheer fun of these pieces, I’m not entirely sure if I’m bold enough to sport a sherpa drumstick as a crossbody. However, I can definitely see the appeal for die-hard KFC fans who aren’t afraid to wear their hearts (or should I say, stomachs?) on their sleeves – or rather, across their shoulders.

Pulsar x Feinman Noctua mouse has a built-in fan to chill your sweaty palm

Not often have I heard of a mouse overheating and blowing up in the hand. The little computing rodent is safe to deal with. Not surprisingly then, we are consciously okay handling them during those nerve-wrecking battles and work hours extending beyond dawn. But the same cannot be said for sticky, sweaty hands you’re left with on the plasticky mice. Notwithstanding, no one has thought of giving the mouse a fan, until now. Noctua, the famous Austrian computer hardware manufacturer, that has for years kept CPUs cool with its incredible fans, has teamed with Pulsar for a gaming mouse with a built-in fan.

The beige and brown Noctua fans have been part of our lives, ever so quietly beefing up our devices’ performance. Now a small Noctua is finding its way into Pulsar’s flagship mouse. The idea of the fan inside a mouse is simple, to keep the hand dry; not that we thought the innards of the mouse required cooling.

Showcased at the 2025 Computex in Taipei, Taiwan, the Pulsar x Noctua gaming mouse is based on the Pulsar Feinman F01, whose internals have been adjusted to integrate a 40 mm Noctua NF-A4x10 5-Volt PWM fan. The exterior of the mouse is an innovative magnesium alloy exoskeleton with cutouts to direct airflow to your palm, keeping it chill when the going gets tough. For the new collaboration, Pulsar has painted its flagship Feinmann mouse in Noctua colours, including a fan – which of course is in signature beige-brown outfit. The co-branded mouse is called the Pulsar x Feinman Noctua Edition and, despite the fan onboard, is said to have ultra-quiet operation. According to the available information, the fan inside of the mouse runs almost quietly with a noise level of 17.9dB.

Since quietness and the idea to keep the sweating palm dry don’t make for a good gaming mouse, the Pulsar x Feinman Noctua borrows all its impeccable features from its predecessor. For a gamer’s benefit, the lightweight wireless mouse has a XS-1 sensor delivering an awesome 32,000 dpi. To ensure smooth gameplay, it offers 8 kHz polling rate, an acceleration of 50G, and a speed of 750 IPS, and comes with its own charging dock. There is no word on the exact weight of the mouse, or how much the fan eats up on the battery, but considering Feinmann F01 weighs only 46g, thanks to its magnesium housing, the fan-based mouse probably weighs just as much. Same is for the price, the F01 costs about $180 and the Pulsar x Feinman Noctua Edition is expected to cost $200, when it goes on sale in November 2025.

I’ll be honest, there have been times when I’ve tried (and failed miserably) to prop my iPhone up using my standard bifold wallet just so I could quickly set a timer and click a group photo. The MagFlip’s design isn’t subtle. It looks as rugged as it feels, with an all-metal body that sports industrial detail, exposed screws, a shock-absorbing bumper, and built-in magnets that provide up to 3000g of attraction force so the wallet never accidentally slips off your phone like Apple’s own MagSafe wallet. The design balances being a cardholder with being a stand rather seamlessly. As far as cards are concerned, they’re accessed using a metal flap on the top that opens to reveal the 5 cards inside. The Droog X Volcon Grunt Is a Street-Legal Post-Apocalyptic Electric Monster

It looks like a machine built in the background of a Nine Inch Nails video – blunt, dirty, furious. The Droog X Volcon Grunt doesn’t care about looking sleek. It’s industrial as hell and twice as aggressive. You don’t ride it, you strap in for the kind of electric street brawl that leaves burn marks on the asphalt and a vibration in your teeth.

Based on the Volcon Grunt EVO, Droog Moto’s latest creation wears its attitude like armor. The frame looks sculpted with a sledgehammer and finished by a welder who ran out of patience but had plenty of talent. Up front, a thin horizontal LED headlight slices through the night like a katana caught mid-swing. The fat tires – massive 8-inch-wide slabs of rubber – promise grip on anything short of lava. Gravel, sand, pothole-ridden backstreets? It’s game on.

What makes this brute tick is a dual 60V battery configuration, delivering a top speed of 60 mph with a torque curve that feels immediate and unforgiving. It’s powered by a 10.6 kW Gates carbon belt drive system, which means you’re getting that sweet, near-silent thrust that only a torquey electric drivetrain can give. It’ll cover up to 60 miles on a single charge – plenty of time to stir up trouble or head off-grid without breaking a sweat.

But here’s the trick: while it looks like something that belongs in a post-apocalyptic scrapyard drag race, there’s precision in the chaos. Droog’s aesthetic might scream Mad Max, but the execution is meticulous. Custom LED lighting, a brutally minimalist saddle, and a stance that looks like it’s always mid-pounce. This is where off-road DNA meets streetfighter brawn… and the result isn’t subtle.

Only two of these beasts exist… and one’s already spoken for. That’s less of a production run and more of a clarion call. If you see one in the wild, you’re either at an elite underground race meet or you’ve stumbled into Bruce Wayne’s mansion.

The Anki Vector Died And Gave Birth To The Focus Buddy: Hands-on at BEYOND Expo 2025

Remember the Vector? A tiny tractor-shaped anthropomorphized robot that sat on your desk, held up snacks, and kept you company? If you do, you also remember its unceremonious demise. Anki folded due to bankruptcy, selling all its assets to another company that pretty much killed the Vector’s functionality. It’s sort of like the Humane AI pin, which ended up getting pretty much shuttered after the company declared it was shutting down. There are now thousands of Anki Vector toys just gathering dust, sitting in the shadow of what could have been.

However, a similar product may be fulfilling the Vector’s role, with the exact same demeanor and cuteness. Meet the Focus Buddy, a tiny robot designed to look like an anthropomorphic computer, sitting on your desk. Like the Vector, the Focus Buddy interacts with you, through input and expression – however, it has a more distinct purpose than simply entertainment – its purpose is to boost human focus.

Focus Buddy is a tiny touch-enabled device that uses a combination of sensors to check your attentiveness. Think a pomodoro timer but with AI chops. It’s playful, but plays a pretty fundamental role in your productivity, checking to see if you’re attentive, distracted, or just dissociating (mea culpa).

The tiny device, no larger than a chonky webcam, sits on your tabletop, with a 2-ish inch screen that usually shows a friendly face with blinking eyes similar to the Anki Vector. Tap the screen, and you can access a variety of settings as well as games that help boost your focus.

The way the Focus Buddy works is simple yet advanced. A webcam on top captures your face, reading your gaze, how many times you blink, and whether you look attentive, sleepy, or just listless. However, a millimeter-wave sensor inside the robot also manages to read your heart rate, combining the two metrics to judge your focus. If it detects a drop, it alerts you, and encourages you to either get back to work, or boost your focus using one of its on-board focus-enhancing exercises.

The device is currently in a very rudimentary phase (the company is purely China-based and hasn’t even built its website yet), with its makers looking to slowly reach critical mass. For now, however, the Focus Buddy is a perfect symbol of what the Vector could have been – a buddy that guides you through the day and enables you to be your best self. Also, it’s the perfect size for cat-hats, so you can customize your Focus Buddy with a rodeo had, a tiara, probably even a modded 3D printed Batman or Iron Man mask that works without blocking the screen or impeding the webcam!

Why is China Obsessed with Humanoid Robots?

It’s so uncanny how culture eventually shapes the technology around us. Self-driving tech made in the USA would NEVER work in the global south or countries like India – it wouldn’t anticipate street animals or local vehicles. Similarly, tech developed for and from countries like China might be fairly global, but I did notice a big difference at the BEYOND Expo this year – an absolute multitude of humanoid robots.

To be fair, this isn’t my first China expo; I visited Shanghai for CES Asia (when it was still a thing), and noticed the exact same pattern there too. While I speculate the West generally fears robots and the power they hold over humanity (look at every bit of pop culture, from Terminator to Love, Death, and Robots), the East doesn’t hold such reservations. In countries like China, Japan, and South Korea, humanoid robots thrive, working as concierges, assistants, and even talented parts of the workforce (we even saw robot musicians). So it got me asking myself – why is China obsessed with Humanoid Robots?

This East/West divergence isn’t merely aesthetic; it’s deeply cultural. In the West, robots often symbolize existential threats. From Skynet’s apocalyptic AI in “Terminator” to Ultron’s malevolent intelligence in “Avengers,” robots are frequently portrayed as harbingers of doom. Even the Decepticons in “Transformers” embody this fear. Conversely, Eastern narratives, particularly in China and Japan, depict robots as allies. Astro Boy, created by Osamu Tezuka, is a benevolent android hero. Gundams are piloted protectors, not autonomous threats. These stories foster a perception of robots as companions and protectors. However, that’s just my theory.

At the 2024 World Robot Conference in Beijing, over 27 different models were unveiled, showcasing the country’s commitment to leading in this sector. Officials emphasize that these robots are designed to assist, not replace, human workers, aiming to enhance productivity and undertake tasks in hazardous environments. This approach aligns with the cultural narrative of robots as helpers and protectors.

This cultural lens influences real-world applications. China’s government actively promotes humanoid robotics. At the X-Humanoid innovation center in Beijing, officials emphasized that these robots aim to assist, not replace, human workers. They are designed for tasks humans find hazardous or undesirable, such as deep-sea exploration or space missions.

Demographics also play a role. China faces a rapidly aging population, with the number of people over 65 increasing significantly. To address the impending caregiver shortage, the government is integrating humanoid robots into eldercare. These robots can provide companionship, monitor health, and assist with daily activities, offering a solution to the demographic challenge.

Eastern philosophies and religions, such as Buddhism and Taoism, often emphasize harmony between humans and their environment, including technology. This perspective supports the integration of robots into society as harmonious entities rather than disruptive forces. The concept of techno-animism, where technology is imbued with spiritual essence, further explains the comfort with humanoid robots in Eastern cultures.

That philosophical outlook ends up shaping how China makes its humanoid robots. Below is Huawei’s FusionCube Chat Bot, a fun robot designed to assist and answer questions. Unitree’s G1 robot retails for $16,000 and is used in elder-care, having the robot perform human activities that the owner is too old to do or physically incapable of doing. On the other hand, some robots are made for special activities, like the Hobbs from Noetix, designed to expertly mimic human expressions – something that works great in human-like applications but also in movies and entertainment.

The result is a society where humanoid robots are not only accepted but celebrated. At the Spring Festival Gala, robots performed traditional dances alongside humans, symbolizing this integration. In marathons, humanoid robots run alongside human participants, showcasing their capabilities and societal acceptance.

China’s approach to humanoid robotics is a confluence of cultural narratives, governmental support, demographic necessity, and philosophical harmony. This multifaceted embrace positions China at the forefront of humanoid robot integration, offering a distinct contrast to Western apprehensions.

Corals living amidst marine pollution is a call to awareness and action

Ocean pollution is a major problem for our planet but there are still people that do not believe it exists or maybe worse, are unconcerned about it. However, it’s a problem that affects our daily lives and not just those of the living things that are in the ocean. It can bring harmful effects on our food supply, water quality, the economy of coastal communities. It also influences climate change and biodiversity. So it’s something that we should pay attention to.

This project by studnets from Taiwan’s Shih Chien University is able to blend environmental consciousness and artistic expression, bringing attention to the problems of corals that are affected by marine waste. Called Marine Debris – Home, the art installation presents a poignant visual narrative: corals flourishing on marine debris. This imagery underscores nature’s resilience, illustrating how marine life can adapt and thrive even amidst pollution.

The artworks powerfully juxtapose the natural vibrancy of coral reefs with the stark reality of human-induced pollution. On one hand, we witness corals that continue to grow and thrive beneath the ocean’s surface, their colors and forms a testament to the resilience and beauty of marine ecosystems. On the other hand, these same corals are seen attaching themselves to and growing atop pieces of discarded waste—plastic bottles, wrappers, fishing nets, and other debris—materials often left behind by careless visitors or irresponsibly discarded into waterways.

This unsettling coexistence highlights the unintended consequences of human behavior. Despite growing awareness and small strides in reducing the use of non-recyclable plastics, such materials remain among the most prevalent and persistent pollutants in the ocean. The artworks force viewers to confront the uncomfortable truth: that even the most majestic forms of marine life are now being shaped and affected by our waste, and that this new reality, while visually striking, is ultimately a symbol of ecological imbalance and environmental neglect.

While the corals are still growing beautifully in the midst of all that trash, if we do not change, the purity of the ocean will eventually not exist. “Marine Debris · Home” is more than a conceptual design; it’s a call to action. By showcasing the unintended habitats formed by pollution, the project urges society to reflect on its environmental footprint. It challenges individuals and communities to adopt more sustainable practices, ensuring that the beauty of marine life isn’t built upon the remnants of human negligence.

Vacuum cleaner concept is a household appliance you can display in your space

When the pandemic forced a lot of people to stay at home, most of us began to really look at the space we’re living in. A lot of people started redecorating, seeing their living rooms not just as places to pass through after work but rather as extensions of themselves. This may have included hiding away functional home appliances that don’t match our vibes. Vacuum cleaners are some of the “victims” of these visual overhauls and they are oftentimes hidden away from the view of visitors.

The DORIC vacuum cleaner concept, designed by Seongmin Lim, reimagines the traditional vacuum as a sculptural element that seamlessly integrates into modern living spaces. Rather than being stashed away in a closet or hidden behind a curtain, this vacuum cleaner is designed to be seen and even admired. Drawing inspiration from the Doric columns of ancient Greek architecture, the design emphasizes clean lines, angularity, and symmetry, echoing a sense of timeless elegance and structural beauty. These classical elements are reinterpreted with a modern twist, giving the vacuum a bold yet minimal presence that complements contemporary interiors.

By adopting an angular form that aligns with the corners of rooms, the DORIC vacuum cleaner not only fits naturally into living spaces but also enhances them aesthetically. The design is of course not just for visual appeal but is also functional. It lets you store it in room corners, maximizing space utilization. Additionally, the design facilitates ease of use, with ergonomic considerations ensuring comfortable handling during operation.

It basically looks like a razor that’s eating up all the dust and dirt. Since this is a cordless vacuum cleaner, it’s also important to know the battery level, which you can see on the LED indicator. It also automatically starts charging when you place it on the rear charging port that’s located in whatever corner you place it on.

The designer also did extensive prototyping to make sure that this will actually work. Let’s see if it will ever see the light of day. But whether it eventually hits the market or remains a concept, DORIC challenges the idea that functional items must be hidden to preserve the beauty of a space. Instead, it offers a new perspective: maybe the things we use every day deserve to be seen, especially when they look this good. It becomes more than just a cleaning tool; it turns into a design object, a visual anchor in the room, proudly displayed even if it’s tucked into a corner, not because it has to be, but because it deserves to be.
