The design comes in two variants – one featuring an all-titanium handle, and another with a carbon fiber scales handle. Both, however, house the classy-yet-edgy M390 steel blade within, that you can pop out and use for everything a dad would do – from cutting open letters to scraping flint to start a fire, or whittling away at wood.

The compact build leaves you with a compact blade to match, measuring in at just 1.5″ long, which most purists would say isn’t effective, but that’s where the Pocket Tanto proves them wrong. Its dual-edge blade, forged from high-performance martensitic M390 steel is perfect for all activities. The American Tanto format leaves you with two points that are perfect for piercing, and two edges that work great for cutting, slicing, and scraping. To keep it visually and physically light, the blade sports a tanto-shaped cutout too, which not just brings down the weight, but also lets you comfortably open the knife with two hands.

For a more dramatic opening, a flipper enables single-handed deployment, while a frame lock holds the blade in place while you ‘knife’ away. Inside, an ultra-smooth ball-bearing pivot gives you a buttery-smooth action that your (or your dad’s) hands will love constantly engaging with.

Both titanium and carbon fiber variants are identical in shape and size, although the latter is slightly lighter at 1.25oz (35 grams) as opposed to the titanium’s 1.4oz (40 grams) weight. Ogilvy Colombia develops a prototype of biodegradable packaging or plastic made of whey and cheese waste that decomposes in 300 days. The project is named Self-Packing Cheese because the cheese is wrapped with bioplastic made of materials taken and recycled from the production process. The design teams, comprising Ogilvy Colombia and Nestlé, use microorganisms controlled in a lab to produce PHA, or polyhydroxyalkanoates, which is a type of bioplastic. They mix it then with organic byproducts from cheese production, specifically the whey, or the water-like liquid produced after the cheese is made. Combining these creates small pellets.

Material that can decompose in 300 days

 

These small pellets, then, are processed with injected air. This creates the thin, plastic-like film of the biodegradable packaging for Self-Packing Cheese. The design teams say that the prototype can help reduce waste and the use of traditional plastic. They add that typical plastic breaks down after around 900 years. With their biodegradable packaging made of cheese, the plastic can decompose as early as 300 days. Design-wise, the film is translucent and lightweight, although it does have a smoky look to it given the whey.

 

The company can still print over the cheese’s plastic, hinting at the robustness of the biodegradable packaging. The material represents a potential model for circular packaging. It refers to packaging that can be reused, repurposed, or broken down naturally rather than ending up as waste. The biodegradable packaging or plastic, in this case, actually comes from the cheese itself and eventually returns to the environment without completely polluting it. The project also foresees other potential uses of the wrapper. In this case, companies can adopt the material for different products and purposes, helping reduce the use of plastic.

Procreate Macro-Pad Makes Sketching on the iPad Pro 10x Easier and Faster

Most artists will agree with my point of view that ‘digital’ is NEVER the same as ‘physical’. We use styluses because they’re the closest things to pencils and crayons, and sketching with your finger or mashing buttons on a screen doesn’t feel anywhere as intuitive as actually working with real materials and media. That being said, artists embrace apps like Procreate because of its power, not because they love touchscreens. To that end, Alessandra Mastronicola’s ProKey becomes that piece of tacticle hardware that the Procreate software needs.

Designed with a simple button and knob interface and a visual DNA that sort of matches most MacBooks, the ProKey fits perfectly beside any iPad, complementing the Apple Pencil wonderfully.

A lot of Procreate’s go-to features can be accessed via simple gestures – but for the rest, ProKey is your best friend. It doesn’t waste time with functions like undo/redo or zoom-in/zoom-out/resize. Instead, it gives you important functions like quickly toggling between pencil and eraser (just in case the double-tap on the Apple Pencil doesn’t work as smoothly as you want). You can play with the canvas, blend modes, adjust levels/contrast/brightness, instantly copy/paste, flip the canvas, or open layers without disrupting your flow.

There are 12 keys on the ProKey macro-pad, but the show-stealer is a rotary knob that lets you bind its function to a variety of features, like controlling brush size, opacity, or even toggling through a color wheel. All of this means you can keep sketching with your dominant hand, while controlling away with the other hand, without really stopping because your iPad doesn’t have to differentiate between multiple touch inputs. Sketching happens on the screen, controls happen on the macro-pad.

The ProKey, although conceptual, is rather gorgeously designed. The machined aluminum body, chiclet keys, and the scissor switches on the inside make it a perfect companion to any Apple gadget. It comes with a kickstand to make access easier, and there’s even a power button on top that I assume automatically opens up Procreate once you hit it, so you can get to work immediately without cycling through app drawers. Finally, a USB-C port lets you connect your ProKey to the iPad of your choice. Given the conceptual nature, it’s difficult to assume whether the ProKey is wireless with a built-in battery, or a wired peripheral that remains tethered to your iPad.

NOTHING Car(Zero) is an AI-assisted hotrod reimagined for the dystopian future

The NOTHING Car (Zero) is a bold design representing a bold reinterpretation of automotive form through a minimalist yet evocative aesthetic. Drawing on the raw energy of the hotrod culture, it fuses tradition with futurism, creating a vehicle that is at once familiar and radically distinct. It challenges conventional vehicle architecture by relocating its “intelligence” from the chassis to a visibly elevated module, suggesting a philosophical separation of mechanical function from cognitive interface.

The design takes cues from the stripped-down, exposed nature of hotrods, emphasizing raw mechanics and a focus on performance. However, it modernizes the theme through the application of minimal surfaces and a monochrome palette. The car’s stance is low and grounded, but its elevated core sits apart from the body, suspended as if detached from the act of motion itself. This striking separation underlines a central design thesis, intelligence should not be dictated by speed or physical dynamics.
