Hovering above the coastline of Zhuhai, China, the Hengqin CRCC Plaza by Aedas reimagines urban connectivity through architecture. Designed by Aedas global design principal Dr. Andy Wen, the mixed-use complex unites four sculptural towers via a striking golden sky bridge that loops through the skyline like a ribbon of light. Integrating office, retail, and leisure spaces within 200,700 square meters, the development acts as a contemporary landmark for the Hengqin district, an area fast becoming a high-efficiency service hub linking Zhuhai and Macau.

 

At the heart of the design is the concept of Loop, Communication, and Integration, a triad expressed through the curving bridge that stitches together vertical towers with stepped sky gardens, rooftop terraces, and panoramic viewing points. Floating above the city like a futuristic artery, the bridge creates a walkable urban corridor in the sky. From a panoramic elevator to immersive skywalks, the journey through the building is envisioned as a spatial narrative of discovery, circulation, and elevation.

The design by the international architecture practice Aedas draws from the regional cultural and natural context. With its golden, wave-like facade, the project echoes the nearby sea, while operable glass curtain walls, cloud-like podiums, and landscaped terraces ensure breathability and sustainability in Zhuhai’s humid coastal climate. The massing also responds to the future development of Hengqin’s Central Business District, with a porous retail podium forming a continuous commercial loop on the ground level. Anchor stores at corners, vertical green systems, and framed plazas enhance urban legibility while inviting foot traffic into the retail flow.

 

Technically, the project is a feat of both vision and engineering. Sliding bearings embedded beneath the sky bridge counteract coastal wind loads, while alternating gold and silver aluminum panels reflect sunlight, creating a constantly shifting presence throughout the day. ‘Zhuhai Hengqin CRCC Plaza integrates nature, technology and people, creating a diverse urban environment.’ Dr. Andy Wen shares. ‘Rooted in cultural context, our design reimagines the spirit of place through poetic architecture, offering a new landmark that bridges the present and future between Zhuhai and Macau.’

Rodrigo Ohtake’s Ibiúna House sits just outside São Paulo and feels like a gentle pause from the city’s pace. The home is defined by its modular structure, which is both practical and responsive to the needs of a growing family. Prefabricated elements, designed in collaboration with SysHaus, allow the house to emerge quickly and efficiently in the rural landscape. The system’s flexibility means each space is easily adapted for living, relaxing, or gathering, making the home a restful weekend retreat.

The exterior of the house is wrapped in sky-blue steel panels that softly reflect the changing light of the countryside. Walls of glass open the interior to its surroundings, letting the landscape become part of daily living. Ohtake’s approach is to let the house disappear into the environment. ‘100 colors no.53,’ the latest installment in Emmanuelle Moureaux’s ongoing ‘100 colors path’ series, has opened at Takanawa Gateway City in Tokyo. Composed of 2,400 vertical lines, each rendered in one of 100 precisely selected colors, the work is both a spatial structure and a temporal map, charting a century’s worth of imagined futures.

 

The piece is installed in the newly developed Gateway Park by East Japan Railway Company, and marks the launch of Takanawa Gateway City, an urban complex built around a central transport hub in Minato Ward. As the first public installation unveiled with the complex’s debut, ‘100 colors path’ sets the tone for a neighborhood defined by openness and movement. ‘100 colors no. 53’ will be open to the public until July 21st, 2025.

This way, the Tokyo-based French architect‘s characteristic use of color is an architectural material rather than surface treatment. Each line is inscribed with a year, beginning in 2025 and continuing sequentially through 2124.

 

The structural rhythm of the work is defined by uniform spacing and repetition. Lines are suspended vertically to create a passage that is simultaneously transparent and immersive. The numbers printed on the lines come in and out of view as visitors move through the piece, a kinetic effect heightened by the optical interference patterns of overlapping colors.

Emmanuelle Moureaux carves this passage to invite entry, allowing visitors to become momentarily absorbed in the spectrum of time. As people walk through the corridor, the visual rhythm shifts with their movement. It is a simple gesture, but one that transforms the installation from an object to inhabit into an environment to experience.

 

Inside, the work offers a tactile proximity to each color and year. The vertical density flattens at certain angles and deepens at others, underscoring the relationship between time and space in architectural perception. The effect is neither theatrical nor didactic — it is precise, open-ended, and responsive to movement.

Beyond the park installation, the concept of ‘100 colors path’ has been extended throughout the station district. Moureaux designed related graphics for both north and south ticket gates of Takanawa Gateway Station, as well as the surrounding street flags. A complementary augmented reality experience titled 100 colors city allows visitors to engage with the installation digitally, activating the concept through smartphone interaction.

 

During the exhibition period, a public workshop invited participants to search for color in their everyday surroundings — an approach that reinforces the project’s central theme of color as a framework for observation and time. This alignment between physical installation and public programming strengthens the architectural relevance of the work in its urban setting.

Moureaux’s 100 colors path continues her exploration of how color can be used to shape physical space and collective imagination. The numbering of each line, paired with a clear chronological arc, gives structure to what could otherwise be a purely aesthetic field. This linking of color and time brings a conceptual framework that is visually inviting, but also conceptually complex.

 

The installation references both the future and the present. The decision to begin during Takanawa Gateway City’s inaugural year of 2025 grounds the piece in its immediate context. Meanwhile, the choice to extend one hundred years forward transforms the project into a durational meditation on memory and urban growth.

Bloom 3D Printed Flowers Turn Conservation into a Glowing Meadow

Most people think of 3D printing as something for gadget tinkerers or engineers, a tool for cranking out prototypes, mechanical parts, or one-off widgets in a home workshop. It is easy to forget that this technology can also be a brush for artists, shaping not just plastic but new ways of seeing and feeling. The Bloom installation at Jersey Zoo is a perfect example of how digital fabrication can blossom into something much more meaningful.

The story behind Bloom is rooted in celebration and remembrance. Commissioned by the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, the installation marks the centenary of Gerald Durrell, a pioneering conservationist who founded Jersey Zoo. Instead of going the usual route with plaques or statues, the organizers chose to fill the grounds with a sprawling meadow of more than 5,000 3D-printed flowers. Each one is a tribute to Durrell’s legacy and a call to action for a greener world.

Shebara Resort is situated along Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, and it is intended to be an ambitious experiment in both utility and form. The property features a collection of mirrored orb villas that seem to hover above the water or nestle into the sand, their reflective stainless-steel shells echoing the shifting colors of the sky and sea. Guests arrive by boat, greeted by a landscape that feels futuristic yet rooted in its environment. The architecture by Killa Design draws inspiration from the interplay of water and light, creating a sense of seclusion while maintaining a strong connection to the views.

The interiors have been conceived by Studio Paolo Ferrari to extend the feeling of immersion. Travertine, deep red accents, and subtle curves create a palette that is soft and warm. This LEGO SpongeBob – Krusty Krab Set Is Every 2000s Kid’s Dream Come True

There’s only one true and canonical answer to the question “Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?” Any kid who grew up between the years 1990 and 2010 remembers the iconic Nickelodeon show featuring a sponge named Bob, and his simple, starry friend named Patrick. You’d think life underwater would be boring, but Bikini Bottom was filled with fun, laughter, drama, and some great food courtesy The Krusty Krab. And now, courtesy of LEGO Ideas designer “lanko.”, the Krusty Krab rises from Bikini Bottom as a 2163-piece love letter to fans who’ve memorized every “I’m ready!” and “MY LEG!” ever uttered. It’s nostalgia made tangible, and honestly, it’s absurdly delightful.

This set doesn’t play coy with its source material. The weathered wooden facade, the ship-like windows, even the clamshell sign and the coral-toned dumpster out back – all recreated in unforgiving brick form. It’s not scaled down for simplicity either. With 1710 bricks dedicated to the restaurant alone, it has that rare architectural density you’d usually find in fan-favorite modular sets. I suddenly have a newfound respect for animators who put in this level of detail into my favorite cartoons.

Even Mr. Krabs’s office is here, tucked in the corner, with a wall safe hiding the Krabby Patty secret formula and an extra dash of greed.

The minifigures are a lineup pulled straight from an early-2000s Nickelodeon fever dream. SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Plankton, Gary, and Fred (yes, that Fred) – all present, posed, and appropriately accessorized. Squidward’s got protest signs, Plankton comes with a robot companion, and Gary’s loafing with usual disdain.

What really elevates this build is its emotional IQ. You’re not just building a cartoon restaurant – you’re rebuilding a shared memory. This is where Squidward’s dreams go to die. Where SpongeBob’s optimism goes to thrive. Where Mr. Krabs hoards his riches, and Plankton plots his next inevitable failure. Every detail reinforces those dynamics. It’s a snapshot of character-driven chaos rendered in ABS plastic. Quite well too, might I add.

The entire scene is both detailed as well as interactive. There are way more characters now than in LEGO’s original Krusty Krab build (#3833), and there’s a lot more to work with. This means taking much more time to put the scene together, but once it’s ready, you can literally recreate entire episodes from the cartoon show. There’s a restaurant area, a kitchen, an attic, and Mr. Krab’s office with the save where he carefully stores the recipe for the Krabby Patty so that Plankton can’t get his hands on it.

“Alongside the Krusty Krab is the Patty Wagon (Mr. Krabs uses it for promotional reasons!), the clamshell sign and the dumpster with a heap of trash. Flying around the roof you might catch a jellyfish too,” says LEGO builder lanko.

At 2,868 supporters with 588 days left to hit 10,000 on LEGO Ideas, it’s inching towards its end-goal. And it deserves to get there. This fan-build is a bona fide piece of animated history, dissected and lovingly rebuilt by someone who gets it. Who REALLY gets it. Because anyone can make a burger joint, but it takes a true fan to build one where the food is imaginary, the customers are fish, and the vibe is permanently stuck in 2004.

Aston Martin Valkyrie LM runs like a hypercar used in racing

 

Aston Martin releases the Valkyrie LM, a hypercar inspired by the road-legal version of the Valkyrie, in July 2016. Back then a non-working model, the LM variant is for the racing fans who want to own the vehicle and drive it on tracks. The current model is not road-legal and can’t also be used for official racing since the car manufacturer has designed it for private use only. Because of this, the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM doesn’t have the ballast, or the extra weight used to balance the car during races, and specific electronics installed to comply with the racing rules.

 

The hypercar’s controls are designed for personal driving, too. During racing, there usually is a system that adjusts the power delivered to the wheels. In the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM, it’s absent because the setup is more ‘direct,’ similar to how road-legal cars work, with their knobs and controls. The design team has also refreshed the engine so the hypercar can run on normal fuel instead of the ones used in racing. To still keep the spirit of racing, the team retains several designs. The first is the seven-speed gearboxes that use paddles behind the steering wheel, just like in track cars. The next is the adjustable suspension that adapts to different track conditions.

Then, the tires of the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM are still from Pirelli, which is the same company that makes the wheels for Formula 1 cars. Even the carbon-fiber seats come with padding around the shoulders and head, the same upholstery as the racing cars. The steering wheel comes with lighting and a built-in screen to show the user their driving information as if they were in a race. For a brief history recap, the car manufacturer started its Valkyrie project in 2016, producing the road-legal Valkyrie Coupe and the convertible Valkyrie Spider over time. Now, it is the time of the Valkyrie LM, which draws its design and engine cues from both its sibling models. 

 

The race car version of the Valkyrie Hypercar is competing in two major racing series this 2025: the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in North America. Just like the Valkyrie that’s racing in the 2025 Le Mans, the LM version uses a modified version of the same V12 engine. It also doesn’t use a turbocharger but produces up to 520 kilowatts, following the racing rule limits. Aston Martin says that it will only produce ten Valkyrie LM units to be delivered in the second quarter of 2026.
