The layout of the building is organized around a curved brick wall that runs through the entire site and connects the different spaces. This wall guides how people move through the building, creating a winding path that slows the rhythm of the movement and invites people to explore at their own pace. The experience of moving through the space reflects the owner’s own journey through life as a traveler and collector of art.

Thailand-based Volume Matrix Studio created this project for a doctor who also collects ancient art with a vision to create a space that would serve as a place to display his growing collection and share it with others. The architecture reflects this idea by guiding visitors through a series of spaces shaped by memory and art.

 

Brick is the main material used throughout the project, chosen for its connection to ancient architecture and its ability to express texture and depth. The architects used several types of brick and construction techniques to create a variety of surfaces, evoking the feeling of both old ruins and carefully crafted spaces.

 

The entrance to Brick Journey is deliberately small and tucked away, framed by the curved wall to create a sense of curiosity. Above it, there’s an observation point, symbolizing both the beginning and end of the visitor’s path. After stepping inside, visitors encounter a small pond and an empty frame placed by the owner as a reflective pause in the experience. This leads to a flexible space used for temporary exhibitions and small events, connected to a courtyard that brings in natural ventilation and views of the surroundings.

To the left of the site is the café and reception area, which opens up to a large courtyard shaded by a mature tree that has been on the site for many years. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of this garden space, while objects from the owner’s collection, including antique doors, are integrated into the Brick Journey building.

 

On the second floor, the architects of Volume Matrix Studio divide the galleries into different areas for various types of artwork. A stairway leads to a smaller exhibition room ideal for paintings, while a steel bridge connects the main house to the upper level of the café, where another gallery displays works from the Indian subcontinent. Visitors can then either return to the entrance area via a historic Art Nouveau staircase or continue forward to the observation point, completing a full loop through the building.

Raised on a slender V-shaped column and a mechanical core, the compact home floats above an open carport, its crisp corrugated galvalume shell shimmering against the city’s brick and greenery. This interplay of lightness and rootedness defines the project’s attitude: inventive, considerate, and tuned to both family needs and its urban site.

The house takes shape in response to the most immediate of obstacles—a mature maple tree. Rather than cut it down, the architects lifted the home’s primary volume, allowing air, water, and roots to move naturally beneath. In their exhibition Movables, Studio Knob presents a small and focused series that transforms iconic ORTIZ sardine cans into miniature sculptural suitcases. This simple gesture opens a conversation about movement, memory, and the personal weight we carry with us. The idea emerged while walking through Tel Aviv’s Levinsky Market, where shelves overflow with goods from distant places. Among them, the bright and bold ORTIZ tins caught the eye and stirred the imagination. Their striking graphic design, vibrant color palette, and timeless maritime motifs suggested stories that extend far beyond the can’s practical origin. Rather than treating the object as static, the artists approached it as something that wants to move. By adding custom 3D printed elements such as handles and corner guards, the can becomes a travel object. The parts are attached without glue, using a dry-fit method and rubber bands, which allows them to be removed and reapplied to other tins.

Rising 66 stories above Biscayne Bay, the Aston Martin Residences represents the manufacturer’s first foray into real estate development, translating decades of automotive craftsmanship into a living space that channels the sophistication of a DB11 and the presence of a Vantage. This sail-shaped tower at 300 Biscayne Boulevard Way stands as the tallest residential building in the southern United States outside of New York City, stretching 249 meters into the Miami skyline.

The project emerged from a collaboration between G&G Business Developments and Aston Martin, with architectural firms Revuelta Architecture and Bodas Miani Anger bringing the vision to life. What makes this development particularly compelling is how it incorporates signature automotive design elements into residential spaces, creating an environment where residents experience the same attention to detail found in an Aston Martin vehicle. The tower’s completion marks a significant expansion for the Gaydon-based manufacturer, extending their brand presence into new markets while maintaining the exclusivity and craftsmanship that defines their automotive legacy.

Architectural Design Philosophy

The tower’s distinctive sail-shaped silhouette reflects its waterfront location while creating a visual connection to the maritime heritage of Miami’s downtown district. Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, applied the same design philosophy used in the company’s vehicles to every aspect of the building’s interior spaces.

The curvilinear glass and steel structure incorporates signature Aston Martin elements throughout, from hand-stitched leather door tabs to bespoke artisan handles that mirror the tactile experience of the brand’s automotive interiors. The building’s upper levels, from floors 56 to 65, house the Penthouse Residences, which include seven penthouses and one triplex penthouse. These premium units feature private pools and expansive terraces that provide panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape and waterfront.

The development also includes Sky, Panoramic, and River Residences, each offering distinct design themes and amenities tailored to different preferences and lifestyles. European cabinetry and premium white marble flooring throughout living areas, kitchens, and bathrooms establish a consistent aesthetic throughout the building. Ten-foot and twelve-foot ceiling heights create spacious interiors that complement the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows.

The most exclusive offering is a seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom residence spanning more than 27,000 square feet, complete with its own rooftop terrace and lap pool overlooking the city. This particular unit includes ownership of an Aston Martin Vulcan Hypercar, one of only 24 produced, valued at $2.3 million.
