Cheng Tsung FENG presents Nesting Plan IX Dragon in Slovenia

 

For the ninth edition of his Nesting Plan series, artist Cheng Tsung FENG draws from local cultural motifs in Ljubljana, Slovenia, selecting the dragon, a prominent symbol in the city’s mythology, as the subject of the installation. The Nesting Plan series learns from the architectural expertise of the animal builders inhabiting each site, interpreting their nesting techniques through human construction materials, such as wood and metal, and craftsmanship as a tribute to their remarkable natural instincts. This time, the project takes place in Ljubljana, a city that sees the dragon as its guardian and spiritual symbol, earning it the nickname Dragon City. Inspired by the local dragon culture, the artist chose the mythical creature as the subject of the nesting plan for the first time.

Construction materials mirror a mythic dragon’s strength

 

Drawing from depictions of dragons in legends, ancient paintings, films, and childhood memories, the artist imagines a dragon capable of flying, powerful enough to clutch boulders, dwelling in harsh environments where other creatures cannot reach and plants cannot grow. Taking inspiration from the size and claws of the four green bronze dragons on the city’s famous Dragon Bridge, Cheng Tsung FENG envisioned the nest’s materials, interior space, and entrance dimensions, and created this imagined dragon’s nest. This work is designed to be movable; all of its components can be dismantled and reused, reassembled into furniture such as tables and chairs, extending its possibilities in countless ways. It is a gift dedicated to Ljubljana and its dragons, a nest for myth and imagination. Nesting Plan IX Dragon is commissioned by The Wellbeing Project for the Global Hearth Summit 2025.

Retro-style LEGO Computer comes with interchangeable screens, a CD tray, and peripherals

As a 34-year old, I’m just about old enough to remember these machines. They were large, bulky, all off-white, and could be found in the computer lab at my school. They barely did much – all we could do was run primitive programs like BASIC and Java on them – that being the entire purpose of ‘computer class’ at school… but what I remember (and cherish) the most, was just the design of those machines.

Designed as an homage to computers from the late 80s and early 90s, this MOC (My Own Creation) by PovedaBricks brings the old-style computers to life. Put together with 2,286 bricks, the build features multiple interchangeable screens, representing different interface elements of the computers back in the day. The build features a clunky CPU, a CRT monitor (placed promptly on top), as well as peripherals like the wired keyboard an mouse… because wirelessness wasn’t a thing for at least another 10 years… and USBs weren’t either!

The charm of the computer lies in its details. More than 2000 bricks brings this computer to life, with every part realistically modeled out – from the chunky nature of the CRT monitor to the off-color keys on the fairly detailed keyboard. For PovedaBricks, this isn’t a piece-by-piece recreation of any specific computer, however, it represents just the generic computers of the time, which ended up getting some of the first GUI-based interfaces just years prior.

The build features multiple screens, which you can access through a tray in the side of the CPU. Pop it open and you see 3 extra screens to choose from, giving you enough range to cover most use-case scenarios for the PC. The first is easily the desktop interface, featuring an obscure set of icons, two open text windows, and the start bar at the bottom. Although too early, you can see a modern minimalist Windows logo on the screen too. The Windows logo of the 90s looked a whole lot different, but then again, creating tiny details in LEGO turns out to be a bit of a challenge, given its block-based nature.

Other screens include a command prompt window – probably the oldest form of computing interfaces – followed by a screen from MS Paint (complete with icons!) as well as a TV signal error, which I personally only remember seeing on televisions. I’m not old enough to remember seeing these on computer monitors, but the colored bars on the screen usually meant an issue in the input signal.

Other cute details involve a pop-out CD tray, although the tray is much smaller in proportion to your traditional CD. The keyboard and mouse are adorably detailed too. The mouse has left and right click buttons, although it’s missing a scroll wheel. The keyboard has a full key layout (as was customary in older keyboard models), with the numpad on the side. The keys were often color coded too, making navigation easier – commonly used keys like Enter, Shift, Caps Lock, and the arrow keys were often tinted beige so that they were easy to locate while typing, eliminating error in the process.

The back (which usually gets neglected in most builds) is filled with detail too, showing the complicated setup on the rear of CPUs, with the fans, vents, and ports all clustered together. The CRT has a panel too, with the VGA cable (presumably) connecting the monitor to the machine. The keyboard and mouse would rely on PS2 connectors (not that kind of PS2), color coded pink and green so you knew which cable went where. This one doesn’t have the color coding, although PovedaBricks could easily make an update.

With just under 2,300 votes, the LEGO Ideas Classics Computer is gradually gaining traction to hitting its next 5k vote milestone. It already has a nod of approval from the LEGO staff, and with just enough support, could hit the eventual 10k vote mark which will send the entry to LEGO’s internal review team. This Egg-Shaped Mouse Was Designed To Shift Between Regular And Tilted/Vertical Formats For Ergonomics

For many of us, the café has become the new coworking space, a place to send off a few emails, power through a light design sprint, or finally edit that proposal over an iced oat latte. But while your laptop may have made the transition gracefully, your mouse probably hasn’t. The compact, flat mouse you toss into your laptop sleeve each morning may be convenient, but it does a number on your wrist. And while ergonomic vertical mice are kinder to your body, they’re awkward to carry and usually get left behind. That’s the tension Yolk solves, with a design that’s smart, ergonomic, and surprisingly fun.

The idea for Yolk came over lunch. At a café, the designer felt wrist pain from using a flat mouse, something a vertical mouse could solve, if only it were portable. Glancing at a folded sandwich sparked a thought: what if a mouse could fold too? That became Yolk, a 2-in-1 mouse that’s compact on the go and ergonomic when you need it.

Yolk is designed to act like two mice in one. In its default, closed state, it resembles a typical travel mouse, minimal, smooth, and small enough to slide into any laptop pouch. But with a few simple motions, lifting the top panel, sliding out the central knob, and snapping it shut, it transforms into a vertical mouse with a subtle but effective 25-degree tilt. This small angle is enough to relieve wrist tension while keeping the device compact.

The standout design element is the central knob. In vertical mode, it serves as both a scroll wheel and a natural thumb rest, with the angle precisely calculated to match your thumb’s range of motion. It’s a small detail that significantly boosts usability and comfort.

The charm of Yolk lies in its personality. That protruding scroll knob? It’s not just functional, it’s cute, iconic, and perfectly egg-like. Visible through a circular cutout in the mouse body, the rounded yellow knob recalls a sunny-side-up yolk or even an avocado pit. It’s a witty visual cue that gives the product instant identity.

The digital scroll pad replaces the conventional wheel in flat mode, keeping the profile smooth and responsive. The laser sensor is framed within a centered circular chamfer, and the yellow-accented power port adds a subtle design highlight. Even the reflection graphic on the top of the knob nods to the gleam of an egg yolk in sunlight. Every curve, color, and cut speaks the same playful language.
