Next, Yüssée (Paris), a sensory brand by Yuan Yuan and Cédric Guennoc, captivates with tasting boxes inspired by the five senses and traditional Chinese seasons. Completing the trio is Hilo (Monaco), founded by Adeline Michelotti, who is redefining furniture with modular, drill-free solutions perfectly suited for contemporary urban living spaces.

Multidisciplinary visual artist, photographer, and director Reuben Wu inscribes light onto remote natural environments through experimental photographic interventions in his latest series, Thin Places. Known for his haunting aerial compositions using drones, lasers, and long exposures, the artist has developed a unique visual language that brings photography, design, and speculative technology together. In Thin Places, Wu frames landscapes where artificial light and natural terrain seem to meet halfway. The images are captured entirely on-site, in single exposures, using drones and lasers to trace fleeting geometries into the environment.

 

One standout work from the series, Surface Tension, was photographed at a remote salt lake under a moonless sky. Using a custom aerial laser swept just above the water’s surface, Wu renders a floating curtain of light, revealing crystalline salt structures caught between the stars above and their reflections below.

Thin Places builds on the foundation of SIREN series

 

The project’s title, Thin Places, references a Celtic notion of geographical thresholds, spaces where the boundary between the physical and the spiritual dissolves. Wu interprets this concept through interventions with light, shaping fields of perception without altering the land. 

 

Thin Places follows the Chicago-based artist’s earlier series SIREN, a triptych made in August 2024 on the shores of Lake Michigan, which marked a turning point in his approach. There, vertical shafts of drone light play against the presence of an unexpected aurora. These early works laid the groundwork for the more atmospheric and spatially abstract compositions in Thin Places, where light becomes a sculptural medium.

 

Wu uses a 102MP Fujifilm GFX100RF medium format system and manually guided lighting technologies in his process, which remains entirely analog in execution, and creates each image in-camera. The work doesn’t follow the usual approach when it comes to landscape photography, as it doesn’t rely on post-production or compositing. The resulting photographs depend on timing, endurance, and precision and feel like documentation of extraterrestrial phenomena — yet they are rooted in this world, shaped by the unpredictable conditions of wind, terrain, and moonlight.

Casio releases MRG-B5000, an indented titanium watch under the MR-G series that uses the Japanese hammering technique named tsuiki. Considered a traditional craft practice in the country, the hammering technique, which literally translates to ‘shape with a hammer’, forms the bezel and bracelet of the timepiece design, individually and thoroughly hitting the surfaces to create the textures. The brand says that each unit is hand-hammered by Kazuya Watanabe, a trained tsuiki artisan from Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, so no two pieces are the same.

 

For the digital titanium-based watch, Casio uses the metal called DAT55G. It is a type of titanium alloy that is about three times harder than pure titanium, which makes the timepiece’s frame stronger and more resistant to damage. The outer surface of the design is finished with a diamond-like carbon coating to prevent scratches and wear, and as the wearer flips the accessory, they find that the rear is also made from titanium, closed tightly using a screw-lock system. In the middle of it lies the MR-G logo, engraved and pronounced, and because of the screw-lock system, the direction of the logo may not always align with the face of the watch, making the piece seem to be moving.

For the MRG-B5000 timepiece, artisan Kazuya Watanabe hammers 25 different parts, each of which is shaped and polished one at a time. The bezel has a multi-guard structure, which uses small cushions between metal parts, and these absorb shocks and protect the inner parts of the watch from impact. The overall shape of the titanium Casio MR-G watch follows the design of the first G-SHOCK, released in 1983. Even though it uses traditional handwork on the outside, the inside of the MRG-B5000 has modern technology, with a digital display and G-SHOCK’s usual shock resistance features. It also has advanced protection systems to handle strong impact or pressure.

 

The tsuiki technique has been used in Japan for a long time, often to make homeware and items like tea sets and metal ornaments. In the recent Casio MR-G watch made with titanium alloy, the tsuiki method is used on the outer metal parts. The pattern is created by changing the force and angle of hammer strikes, and the artistic approach is to create a pattern that does not look machine-made and does not repeat. The artisan uses a specific hammering method called yuragi, which means fluctuation, to produce natural-looking patterns with an organic texture.

The Avalon represents everything this Loire Valley builder does best, wrapped in a stunning two-tone exterior that makes you stop and stare. Tiny Tornado: The Corgi V is a Playful + Powerful Pocket Knife with a $79 Price Tag

Small, fun-loving, loyal, stubborn, playful – these are the characteristics attributed to the Corgi. Which only makes when you look at this knife from Vosteed, which also embodies the same characteristics. Dubbed the Corgi V, this tiny little flipper is all about getting the job done but also having some fun along the way. The Corgi V is adorably minimal, pocket knife that still manages to mean business despite having a fun avatar.

This particular variant from Vosteed sports a black stonewashed 14C28N blade encased in this bright orange anodized aluminum handle. Everything visible to the eye is made from metal (including the stainless steel pocket clip), giving the knife its premium appeal. However, that vibrant colorway (Orange is the new black, much?) gives the Corgi V the splash it truly needs, allowing its muted, minimal design to still capture the eyes without relying on flashy textures, grip inlays, or those horrible aggressive curves that tactical knives try to use to look ‘serious’.

The Corgi V measures a mere 3.48 inches when closed, opening up to 5.85 inches when the blade’s flipped open. This puts the knife in small-medium territory, giving it a blade that’s just above 3 inches long. The handle’s entirely metal, with this delicious orange color that catches the light perfectly thanks to a bead-blasted finish which gives the knife a gorgeous satin texture. Sure, the grip isn’t ergonomic, in fact it’s perfectly capsule-shaped, but I guarantee you, the Corgi V will instantly catch your gaze, and as far as EDC knives go, that’s one battle won.

The other battle, however, lies in the actual cutting. The 14C28N blade offers great balance between sharpness and edge-retention. The blade itself is fashioned in the drop-point format, taking a sort of ‘classic’ approach that makes the Corgi V a jack of all trades. The small blade’s curved belly is perfect for cutting, slicing, scraping, while the pointed tip works wonderfully for piercing and scoring.

A caged ceramic ball bearing mechanism gives you a buttery smooth interaction, while a fipper and the Vanchor lock let you easily deploy the knife on command. Vosteed’s proprietary Vanchor Lock takes literal center stage here, locking the blade in position once opened. The lock manifests as a circular disc on the handle right at the beginning of the hilt. The Vanchor Lock, developed in-house, is a uniquely fun alternative to liner, button, and frame locks. The disc works as the ceramic bearing pivot, but also houses the locking mechanism, which can be disengaged simply by pressing the disc inwards like a massive button. This combination of pivot and lock makes the Vanchor less of an engineering detail and more of a visual icon in itself, like a crown jewel of sorts.

At 2.66 ounces, the Corgi V is as light as it’s compact. Sure, it isn’t as lightweight as knives with fiber or plastic handles, but then again, it’s far classier too. Like the Corgi itself is a sign of British royalty, this knife from Vosteed gets elite status in the company’s catalog as one of its best knives, hands down. Plus, at $79, this gorgeous little EDC is quite the steal!
