At a time when streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music dominate music listening, Vivia offers a unique way to reconnect with your physical music collection by transforming the CD listening experience into something more tactile and engaging.

Recent data from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) shows that in 2022, vinyl sales surpassed CDs in the U.S. for the first time since 1987, with 41 million vinyl records sold compared to 33 million CDs. The Infinity Mouse’s Design takes direct inspiration from Lotus Evanora’s Alien-like Bodywork

You remember those corny novelty computer mice that looked like cars? The hood would be a two-part design with left and right clicks, and plugging the mouse in would make the car’s headlights and taillights glow? What was essentially a corny idea got turned into perhaps one of the most gorgeous mice my eyes have ever seen. Angry Miao’s AM Infinity Mouse draws inspiration from automobiles, but not just any automobile… It pulls design references from one of the most beautiful car concepts to ever exist – the Lotus Evanora.

Inspired by the Evanora’s uniquely voronoi-esque bodywork, the Infinity Mouse too sports an outer panel defined by a very skeletal aesthetic. The mouse’s design looks minimal in a way that really challenges the kind of ‘minimal’ you’d think of while looking at, say, a Magic Mouse. Here, minimal is interpreted as removing materials, not details – the result is a mouse that’s as gorgeous as the car it’s inspired by. But that’s not even its most interesting feature…

Zooco Estudio designs a new Regma ice cream parlor on Calle Burgos in Santander offers a new spatial expression of the Cantabrian brand’s evolving identity. With this project, the Madrid- and Santander-based design firm presents a composed reinterpretation of the brand’s legacy through geometry, materiality, and color. The brand was founded in 1933 and remains a well-known presence in northern Spain.

 

Rather than relying on overt iconography, the interior translates Regma’s foundational values — natural ingredients and an approachable color sensibility — into a spatial language that feels embedded in the architecture itself. A single geometric figure, the rotated square, underpins the entire composition, anchoring visual continuity across timber ceilings, floors, and the street-facing facade.

zooco estudio’s Continuous Geometric Framework

 

From the street, the Zooco Estudio-designed Regma storefront presents a modest face. The timber-framed windows are set within two fluted columns to create a symmetrical front that respects its urban context. Just inside, a lattice ceiling structure constructed in oak defines the entire volume, casting soft-edged shadows that move with the light throughout the day.

 

This gridded ceiling becomes the main organizational tool. It stretches uninterrupted across the parlor, introducing a visual rhythm and providing the structure from which pendant lights and signage are suspended. The geometry mirrors itself at floor level, where travertine slabs are laid in a subtle herringbone pattern, adding texture without visual noise.

Material Translations of Flavor and Craft

 

Zooco Estudio’s material palette leans heavily on travertine marble, which lines Regma’s counters, lower walls, and floors in creamy, softly veined tones. Oak appears throughout in seating, paneling, and the custom ceiling structure. The atmosphere remains consistently warm but never overstates its presence, each surface contributes to a unified and immersive environment.

 

Clay-based paint adds a muted finish to the upper walls, absorbing light and grounding the space in a natural tonality. Stainless steel stools and fixtures offer a slight contrast, referencing the tools of ice cream production while reinforcing the project’s connection to material honesty and craftsmanship.

Luxury Jungle Retreat In Costa Rica Offers The Perfect Blend Of Nature, Ocean Views, & Indoor-Outdoor Living

I’ve always believed the best architecture emerges from a deep conversation with place, and Studio Saxe’s Casa Solai proves this beautifully. Perched on Santa Teresa’s coastal hills, this residence feels like it has grown from the surrounding jungle. The design centers on two distinct volumes that create a fascinating architectural dialogue. One pavilion stays grounded, rooted to the volcanic landscape below. The other floats above the treetops, capturing ocean breezes and framing views of the Pacific. This interplay between earth-bound and airborne creates something magical.

As you stroll through Casa Solai, you feel like you’re moving through a carefully choreographed dance with nature. The wooden pavilions rise gently above the canopy, offering glimpses of the coastline through strategically placed openings. The fragmented composition creates these beautiful moments of discovery. Each threshold reveals something new about the landscape. Bamboo brise soleil screens filter that intense tropical light while keeping you visually connected to the forest. The elevated volume becomes this perfect refuge where you can escape the humidity while staying immersed in the jungle atmosphere.

This water-cooled PC case uses brass and copper plumbing for its Steampunkish vibe

Frankly speaking, I have a weakness for custom PC case mods, especially those that have a Victorian era vibe. The use of brass and copper has a majestic telling, which, for whatever reason, has an aesthetic that no one can overlook. I don’t think many understand this as well as the Billet Labs, a YouTube channel known for its custom, steampunk-inspired PC mods that are water-cooled. And what’s used for the cooling: custom plumbing that makes extensive use of brass and copper.

We have previously seen a handcrafted copper water-cooled gaming PC mod, thoughtfully imagined and successfully designed, in a form factor that we loved for more reasons than just its Steampunkish appearance. Now, while that was a desktop model, this time Billet Lab has gone a little further to impress the sci-fi fans with a wall-mounted build, which as the modder Felix Ure says, and it appears, is the most ambitious build ever attempted by him.

The explanatory build video starts with the modder displaying obscure plumbing components made of brass and copper, which, with custom plumbing, form an integral part of the water-cooled PC at the end of the modification. The PC is assembled from scratch to be a high-end workstation powered by a Ryzen 9 processor and an Nvidia GeForce 3090Ti GPU to go with it.

The interesting part to some can be the artful assembly of all the independently ordered components from power supply to RAM, and four industrial fans to the motherboard, and everything in between. The artistic bit, for me, however, is the way the entire plumbing overlay has been assembled and put in order. The smooth flow of the water in the cooling loops is where all the magic lies, and I am sure you will love (not taking anything away from how painstakingly everything else is done).

While the PC starts out pretty normal in the beginning, it’s the plumbing fixture that gives the case mod the Steampunk vibe that we’d come here for to see in this detailed video above. Another integral and interesting part of the Victorian appearance is the analog temperature and pressure gauge. While the temperature gauge stuck to the GPU measures the external temperature of the graphics unit, it does a good job in the aesthetic category, as the water-cooling mechanism manages the heat perfectly. And the pressure gauge ensures the cooling system does its job by keeping a constant vigil on the pressure and temperature of the water in the coolant loop.

What really propels the system into a new dimension, and also a major reason I like it more than many other Steampunk builds, is that this DIY PC (on completion) can be mounted on the wall, where it looks less like a PC and more like a work of art. It’s only the power and the dangling I/O cables that give up the guise. What do you think about it?

Brooklyn-based architect and furniture designer Tanuvi Hegde introduces her Reflect chair to redefine the role of furniture, transforming a familiar object into an experience that is tactile and engaging. Designed as part of her thesis collection, this piece invites users to engage with their environment through touch, sound, and movement. More than a place to rest, the chair serves as a medium for calming the mind and channeling restless energy.

 

Reflect began with the designer’s personal exploration into how design can support emotional well-being. Aiming to manage anxious energy, she focused on the often-overlooked unconscious act of fidgeting — the small, repetitive motions that lend a sense of grounding in moments of restlessness. Inspired by the sensation of low-frequency vibrations experienced in a sound healing session, Hegde sought to bring this embodied, non-verbal experience into her design. The result is a chair that creates an active space for the body to respond intuitively to its environment.

While the Reflect chair’s aesthetic is restrained and quiet, Tanuvi Hegde designs it with an unexpected feature: a small steel ball set into the armrest. This ball occupies a channel, and can be rolled gently from one end to the other, creating a rhythmic motion. As the ball moves, subtle vibrations and sounds envelop the user, inviting them to engage physically and sensorially, and turning the act of sitting into an active, meditative experience.

 

Reflect’s construction complements its sensory goals. Handcrafted in cherry wood, the chair’s structure is both durable and warm, a reflection of the calming quality it aims to impart. The hand-stitched leather sling and cushion add texture and comfort, creating a tactile experience that supports a sense of relaxation. The cherry wood is selected specifically for its warmth, which leads to a piece that welcomes physical interaction from the moment it is approached.

Aeriform Armchair Turns Bird Wings into Your Comfiest Seat Yet

The Aeriform Armchair is a study in how thoughtful design can bridge the gap between sculpture and seating. Inspired by the elegant sweep of bird wings, its continuous, ribbon-like silhouette wraps around the sitter in a gentle curve, offering both physical support and a striking visual statement. Conceived entirely in virtual reality, the form began as a suspended aerodynamic structure and evolved through rigorous testing into a commanding luxury armchair. While it acknowledges the influence of Pierre Paulin’s Ribbon Chair, Aeriform establishes its own identity with broader proportions, heightened presence, and a deliberate focus on ergonomics.

From the start, comfort was placed on equal footing with aesthetics. The design process began with extensive ergonomic research, drawing from anthropometric references and quickly moving into physical experimentation. Recognizing that most seating studies treat the human body in two dimensions, the designer built a custom jig capable of adjusting seat depth, backrest incline, and overall posture in three and four dimensions. This allowed for testing with participants aged 18 to 60, capturing feedback on how the chair performed in real-world, dynamic seating scenarios. The result is a form that naturally accommodates a variety of postures, whether forward-facing, reclined, sitting sideways, or with legs casually crossed, without requiring mechanical adjustments.

The development process, spanning from December 2023 to June 2024, combined modern digital design tools with hands-on craftsmanship. The initial prototype was CNC-milled from XPS foam, assembled, and shaped to an exact finish before being sealed in epoxy resin. Layers of fiberglass added structural strength to the shell, while the base was fabricated from laser-cut steel. During prototyping, a 3D-printed shell was used to save time, ensuring focus could remain on refining ergonomics and proportions. The base incorporates a Lazy Susan, enabling smooth swiveling, and a spring mechanism that provides a subtle, controlled rocking motion, both features enhancing the sense of ease when seated.

Padding plays an equally important role in Aeriform’s appeal. Multiple densities of polyurethane foam, selected for their varying softness and resilience, are layered over the fiberglass frame and smoothed with batting for a seamless contour. The upholstery, available in high-quality fabric or leather, is cut and sewn with precision, featuring a single continuous seam that accentuates the armchair’s sweeping form. Every detail, from the tailored edge to the concealed joins, reflects a commitment to craftsmanship.

The Aeriform is paired with a matching ottoman that mirrors the chair’s lines, creating a unified and balanced composition. The armchair measures 1026 × 931 × 1135 mm, while the ottoman measures 687 × 571 × 409 mm, dimensions that provide generous seating without overwhelming a room. In darker, graphite-toned fabric, the Aeriform presents a sleek, contemporary edge; in warm camel suede, it takes on a softer, more inviting character.

What makes Aeriform distinct is its dual role. It is visually bold enough to serve as the focal point of a high-end interior yet practical and comfortable enough for daily use. The aerodynamic form ensures a sculptural presence, while the ergonomic design ensures that presence is matched by genuine comfort. Whether in a residential living room, an executive lounge, or a boutique hotel lobby, Aeriform offers a balance of artistry and function rarely achieved in seating design.

Ultimately, Aeriform is the product of a design process where aesthetic vision and human-centered research worked in parallel. Its form is not just a visual flourish but the outcome of hundreds of design decisions, ergonomic trials, and material refinements. The result is a piece that is as comfortable as it is striking, a modern armchair that redefines what high-end seating can be.

Swapz is a series of changeable straps for slippers

 

Ellie Kim designs Swapz, a series of changeable straps for slippers that features a custom ‘rail’ system. Unlike typical slippers, the project lets the wearer replace the top strap of their slippers with different colors, materials, and even graphics. The California-based industrial designer describes it as allowing the user to match the footwear with their mood, clothes, and where they’re going. 

 

The straps are modular, using a custom rail system built into the footbed. This rail holds the strap in place and makes it easy to slide it on and off in a few seconds. The slipper base stays the same, but the top strap can be changed anytime, and the wearer can collect different straps and put on the one that fits their day. Because of this, it’s possible to customize the straps and have the wearer design their own graphics and style for their slippers.

The rail system for Swapz works like a track, which means there’s a smooth groove built into the side of slippers for the changeable straps. The band has a matching edge that slides into this groove, and when the wearer pushes the strap into the track and slides it, the strap clicks into place. In this case, there are no tools, no glue, and no buttons; just a simple slide-and-lock movement to let anyone do it easily.

 

A reason that the industrial designer Ellie Kim has created Swapz is to reduce waste. Since many users tend to throw away their footwear as soon as the top strap breaks, the designer’s response is to just keep the straps modular, especially if the slippers’ base is still intact and in a good state. With this, fewer slippers go into the trash, and there’s no need to buy a whole new pair. So far, this student project is still a concept idea.
