Sonic Steel’s Mark T sits tucked away in Port Neil, South Australia, looking nothing like the shipping containers it started as. Three steel boxes painted uniform black have been transformed into something that feels more like a coastal retreat than repurposed industrial materials. The 40-foot high-cube container anchors everything as the main living space, while a compact 7-foot module houses the staircase, and a 20-foot unit perches on top as the master bedroom. It’s a stacked design that works surprisingly well, creating a home that feels spacious rather than cramped.

Walking through the Mark T, you notice how much thought went into making it livable. The central kitchen becomes the natural heart of the home, drawing people together rather than isolating them. Generous windows flood the space with light, while luxury vinyl flooring and powder-coated tapware add touches that feel intentional rather than industrial. The bathroom includes all the essentials—a shower, a sink, and an odourless toilet that keeps water usage down. This Moss Humidifier Blends Nature and Technology for Healthier Homes

What if your humidifier didn’t just moisten the air but also supported life within itself? That’s the radical yet quietly elegant idea behind the Moss Humidifier, a collaborative project between an independent designer and Oasis, a Canadian startup focused on sustainable, environmentally conscious home products.

The journey began when Oasis discovered a previous concept created by the designer, an experimental hybrid between a humidifier and a natural moss ecosystem. Though never intended for production, the original idea planted a seed. It explored how moss, a rootless plant, could thrive on ambient moisture alone. That biological peculiarity sparked the vision for a commercial product: one that doesn’t just simulate nature but actively incorporates it.

From the Tagus to the Tile: BioMaterials Reinterpreting Azulejos

 

Fahrenheit 180º, a design collective founded by Jeremy Morris and Luca Carlisle, develops From the Tagus to the Tile, an installation exploring the potential of regenerative biomaterials in architectural surfaces. Presented in the gardens of Lisbon’s Gulbenkian Center of Modern Art, the project reinterprets the city’s traditional azulejos using tiles produced from oyster shells and seaweed collected from the Tagus River, the Sado Estuary, and local food systems.

 

The installation is composed of three sculptural elements, a modular kitchen, a bench, and a linear table, clad in the biomaterial tiles. These tiles are designed to be biodegradable, dissolving back into natural systems as part of a circular design approach. Their development emphasizes the ecological value of oysters, which serve as natural filters, purifying up to 200 liters of water daily, stabilizing coastlines, and supporting marine biodiversity.

The material palette reflects the diverse colors of the Tagus and its banks, developed through a collaboration with PhD student Mariana Simões. Hues range from earthy oxides and poppy seed tones to the pinks of microalgae, expanding the chromatic possibilities of tile production beyond conventional blue-and-white traditions. Oyster shells, of which 60,000 tons are produced annually in Portugal, are sourced from farms and restaurants. After sterilization through heat and UV treatment, the shells are ground into powders of varying aggregate sizes, then bound with seaweed material to form the tiles.

 

The sculptural forms, referred to as ‘creepy crawlers,’ rest within the museum gardens with angular, irregular legs that suggest movements from an underwater landscape. Their geometries favor organic distortion over strict rationality, linking ecological storytelling with spatial experimentation. From the Tagus to the Tile extends Studio Fahrenheit 180º’s research into regenerative practices that challenge extractive material systems. Now, the highly anticipated LEGO Ideas 21360 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory set brings the whimsy and nostalgia of the original 1971 film to brick-built life. Comprising 2,025 pieces and debuting as one of two winners from the LEGO Ideas Third 2023 Review Stage, this set is a testament to dedicated fan design by Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano (2PPL).

Absurdist headphones come with their own CD player, remote, and shelf for storing discs.

We’ve seen weird gadgets, fancy wearables, and unbelievable designs all this long, but how far can one go with headphones? Apparently, to pretty out-of-the-box levels if you live in a world where using such audio gear is a normal affair. Created by a DIYer who goes by the alias name Pud Makes Headphones on Instagram, this project is a fascinating find for music lovers.

Pud has an uncanny knack for making headphones that a user like me would dare not touch because of all the bulk. That said, the creation is unique and brings back the charm of CD players to the current times, when wireless headphones, audio codecs, sleek design, and comfort are prioritized over everything else. The pair of cans (literally) is wireless (well, partly) as they are powered by a rechargeable battery pack, which supplies power to the CD player to function normally for an extended time. So, you can walk around the block with these chunky pair of headphones on, listening to music, and everyone giving you a second stare!

The bulky frame of the headphones houses a multifunctional remote control, the CD player, a slot for placing the disk cases on the top, storage for 10 CDs in each can, the wire module, and a jewel case box. That adds a total weight of more than two pounds to the headphones without even placing the discs or CD spindle on the side. By the look of things, the CD frame is salvaged from a car’s audio player for one simple reason: it has the front-loading mechanism. These headphones will last for some hours on a single full recharge of the batteries, so you can go around the town showing them off. The CD player’s insert disk section is positioned in front for easy accessibility. The unit looks hardcore, and only for audiophiles who listen to music at high volumes, since the speakers are embedded into the cans.

A strap keeps the rig firmly in place over the head, and I’m sure you are bound to get headphone hair from these in just a couple of hours. There is an adjuster to fit any head size, still the thing looks too bulky for sensitive users like me who suffer from headphone clamping force, even with the most comfortable pair. Even fighter jet pilots or Formula 1 drivers, who have very strong necks, will feel this one to be intrusive. In fact, Pud himself has worn them for no more than 30 minutes in one go. Perhaps he can go a step further and get a vertical turntable and mount it on the chest with linear dampeners, so that it doesn’t move too much. Or maybe get a chin strap to secure the thing in place. That said, jogging with these on is certainly not advisable!

The Seoul Museum of Art presents ‘Ernesto Neto: Ba Ka Ba, a Dance of the Eternal Polarities,’ a new site-specific installation by the Brazilian artist that transforms the Korean museum’s Seosomun Main Branch lobby into a sensory environment. Commissioned as part of the 2025 SeMA Public Space Project, the woven artwork expands Ernesto Neto‘s longstanding interest in the relationships between body, space, and collective experience.

Ernesto Neto’s installation at the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) is composed of expansive crochet structures woven from industrial cotton fabrics in shades of brown and pink. These colors, chosen to evoke tree trunks and night alongside flowers and day, establish a dialogue between natural rhythms and architectural structure. Suspended and filled with dried guava leaves and locally sourced tea leaves, the artist‘s forms invite a multi-sensory encounter that engages smell both texture together.

 

By occupying the museum’s lobby and adjacent open spaces, the work introduces an organic intervention into the building’s otherwise linear architecture. The flowing crochet forms generate a cyclical sense of space, suggesting continuity and transformation rather than fixed boundaries. Visitors move through and around the installation, encountering shifting relations between center and periphery, interior and exterior.

The title ‘Ba Ka Ba’ functions as an onomatopoeic expression, its mirrored syllables referencing cycles and flows. This rhythm extends into the work’s conceptual framework: polarities such as body and space, sensation and thought, or self and other are not held apart but brought into dialogue. For Neto, these intersections remain central to his practice, recalling his ties to the Brazilian Neo-Concrete movement of the late 1950s and 1960s, which emphasized participation, sensation, and subjective experience.

 

These ideas are reimagined within Seoul’s contemporary urban context. The installation offers an open environment where visitors become part of the work itself and embody a condition of exchange and interrelation. The sensory components extend beyond the visual to affirm art’s role in daily life.
