Anti-package-theft mailboxes are out to secure your deliveries

Online shopping has turned every doorstep into a mini‑warehouse, and package theft has become a common frustration for homeowners. There are some bad elements who think that if there are packages out there on the front stoop, it’s fair game. Not all houses have security cams to help catch these thieves and so they just chalk it up to a regular inconvenience if they can’t be at home to receive packages.

Stonemore is offering a solution to this problem. Their anti‑package‑theft mailbox offers a sleek, steel‑clad solution that promises to keep parcels safe while adding a contemporary look to any porch. The mailbox is built from powder‑coated galvanized steel, a finish that resists rust and weathering, and it is designed to be anchored directly to a concrete pad for maximum stability. The box measures 39.01 inches in height, 16.73 inches in width, and 15.94 inches in depth, weighing 47.18 lbs, which are dimensions that comfortably accommodate everything from standard letters to larger parcels.

Designer: Stonemore

Security is the core of the design. A four‑pin key lock secures both the front and rear doors, and a master key is provided in case the primary key is misplaced . The front door serves as a one‑way delivery chute: once a courier slides a package inside, the chute prevents the item from being pulled back out, effectively blocking opportunistic thieves. The rear door is the only access point for retrieving mail and parcels, ensuring that only the homeowner can open the box.

Installation is straightforward. The mailbox arrives fully assembled, and all that is required is to bolt the base to the ground using the included anchor bolts. The package includes an installation guide that walks users through the process step‑by‑step, making it a DIY‑friendly upgrade for most homes. A five‑year structural warranty backs the product, underscoring Stonemore’s confidence in its durability.

Beyond security, the mailbox is functional for everyday use. It accepts A4‑size mail, handles small to large parcels, and even supports outgoing mail, allowing residents to drop letters without stepping inside the house. The sleek, boxy silhouette blends well with modern architectural styles, offering a visual upgrade that rivals traditional wooden mailboxes.

For homeowners who value peace of mind, the Stonemore mailbox eliminates the need to coordinate with neighbors or rely on “leave‑it‑on‑the‑porch” instructions. Couriers quickly recognize the dedicated delivery slot, reducing missed deliveries and the temptation for theft. The combination of a sturdy steel shell, anchored base, and dual‑door lock system creates a layered defense that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

Top 5 Reasons Why E-Bikes Are the Future of Urban Commuting and Sustainable Travel

E-bikes have gained significant popularity post-COVID, with bike lanes becoming essential to urban design. As cities focus on sustainable transportation, the electric bike provides a convenient and eco-friendly solution. Equipped with a built-in motor that aids propulsion, it makes it easier for riders to cover longer distances with less effort. The motor helps conquer steep inclines and reduces physical effort, providing a more accessible and efficient way to cycle.

The e-bike combines pedal power with electric assistance, offering an ideal solution for tackling hills, covering long distances, and navigating challenging terrain. Powered by a rechargeable battery, it provides the convenience of battery-assisted transportation while still allowing riders to pedal.Discover how investing in an electric bicycle can be a game-changer in the modern world.

1. Ensures Effortless Travel

The e-bike represents a significant evolution in cycling technology as it offers effortless travel and can easily handle steep inclines and declines by maintaining speed over long distances with minimal physical exertion. Unlike traditional bicycles, commuting on an e-bike becomes effortless with pedal assistance as it simplifies acceleration and enhances comfort.

Additionally, climbing hills is much easier, as the e-bike provides extra support when needed and the riders can adjust the power output to match their effort level, making each ride customizable. While it resembles a conventional bicycle, the e-bike combines the simplicity of traditional cycling with the innovation of electric propulsion that offers a smooth and efficient ride.

Take a look at the FUELL Flluid-2 and Flluid-3 e-bikes, designed by Erik Buell that offer the perfect blend of motor and human power for a sustainable and efficient ride. With impressive ranges, up to 225 miles (350 km) for the Flluid-2 and 110 miles (180 km) for the Flluid-3, these e-bikes are perfect for commuting and long-distance travel. They feature a powerful Valeo Cyclee Mid Drive Unit with 130Nm of torque, making uphill climbs easier, and an integrated automatic gearbox that adjusts for smooth riding on hilly roads.

Both these models of e-bikes provide speeds of up to 20 mph (32 km/h), with the S models reaching 28 mph (45 km/h). The FUELL Rider mobile app ensures security with remote locking, motion sensing, and GPS tracking. The e-bikes are built with a sleek, durable aluminum frame, Pirelli tires, and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. The Flluid-2 and Flluid-3 offer a high-performance, eco-friendly, and enjoyable way to travel with ease.

2. Eco-Friendly Transportation Solution

E-bikes are eco-friendly transportation options that help in reducing the environmental impact. They produce no CO2 emissions, or greenhouse gases, or contribute to traffic congestion which leads to cleaner air. As a result, many urban cities are supporting e-bikes as a solution to cut pollution and decrease the number of vehicles on the road. Additionally, e-bikes are made from lightweight, durable, and recyclable materials like steel and offer a sustainable alternative to traditional transportation.

In the context of climate change and global warming, e-bikes help reduce carbon footprints by running on electricity from rechargeable batteries. E-bikes can even be powered by renewable energy sources which make them a key player in improving air quality and encouraging people to switch from high-polluting vehicles like cars and motorcycles.

The Nireeka Mega eBike combines eco-friendly design with powerful performance which makes it a suitable choice for both commuting and adventure. This e-bike is powered by a 1500W Bafang Ultra mid-drive motor with 200nm of peak torque which makes it reach speeds of up to 38mph, with a range of 51 miles on a single charge due to its 840Wh removable battery. This makes it an efficient and eco-friendly way to cover long distances.

The full-suspension design and fat 26”x4” tires provide a smooth, comfortable ride on rugged trails and slippery surfaces, while the Blubrake-powered ABS brakes ensure reliable stopping power in all conditions. The Nireeka Mega’s lightweight, durable carbon fiber frame reduces energy waste while offering a sleek look. This e-bike is a stylish, powerful, and eco-friendly mode of transport that helps reduce carbon footprints and promote cleaner air while delivering an exhilarating ride.

3. Save Time and Energy

E-bikes save time compared to traditional bicycles by covering long distances quickly with the assistance of an electric motor. The motor helps maintain high speeds on inclines and even when facing wind resistance and reduces the physical effort required for pedaling.

Additionally, one does not have to rely on public transport and allows one to save time by choosing a preferred route. E-bikes are highly suitable for errands and shortcuts as their slim design allows for quick maneuvering through traffic, helping you avoid delays. However, it is important to check the battery life of the e-bike for longer commutes to ensure a smooth ride.

The ADO Air 28 e-bike is designed to save valuable commuting time with its 250W/350W brushless hub motor, it helps one to travel faster and with less effort and covers up to 100 km on a single charge. The smart torque sensor adjusts power based on pedaling which makes steep climbs and headwinds easier to tackle. Its sleek design and lightweight frame allows quick maneuvering through traffic, while the puncture-resistant tires and maintenance-free carbon belt ensure a smooth, hassle-free ride.

In this bike, safety is prioritized with hydraulic disc brakes, bright LED lights, and a waterproof design. The 3.5-inch waterproof display shows real-time data, and the mobile app provides easy access to navigation and support. The lightweight aluminum frame of the e-bike combines with a unique lock design and battery protection to ensure security. This makes the ADO Air 28 e-bike a stylish, efficient, and smart solution for commutes and leisure rides.

4. Stay Fit on the go

Just like cycling, riding an e-bike offers an excellent cardiovascular workout, even with motor assistance, as one is still actively pedaling. It engages the leg muscles and improves lower body strength, making it an ideal option for commuting and exercise. Note that e-bikes outperform regular bicycles by reaching 15 to 20 miles per hour to provide an efficient and sustainable way to stay fit while getting around.

Studies show that cycling boosts mood and creates a sense of happiness and energy. E-bikes can also handle challenging terrain and offer a low-impact workout that enhances fitness without straining the body.

Riding a bike is a great way to reduce traffic congestion, lower your carbon footprint, get excellent exercise, and have fun. While traditional bikes can be tiring, e-bikes offer a smoother, faster ride. Early models were bulky, but modern e-bikes are lightweight, sleek, and powerful. However, biking can still be risky in areas lacking bike lanes. To address this, Edgenity’s Nocturne e-bike focuses on enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.

The e-bike features linear LED front lights and a bright red light beneath the seat, it ensures you’re seen on dark roads. The lightweight carbon fiber frame houses an undetachable battery in the down tube, and the high-output motor provides 40Nm of torque for smooth uphill rides. With performance brakes for safe stops and a range of up to 120km per charge, the Nocturne improves fitness, and combines safety, performance, and style.

5. Affordable Transportation

The mass production of e-bikes has reduced its cost making them an affordable transportation option, especially as fuel prices continuously tend to rise. Additionally, e-bikes are economical to operate since they require no fuel, have minimal maintenance needs, and require fewer repairs when compared to traditional vehicles.

As they run on electricity, e-bikes are much cheaper to power than gasoline vehicles which contributes to significant savings. This makes them an ideal choice for cost-conscious commuters. Therefore, as a key component of a sustainable transport system, e-bikes offer an eco-friendly alternative that reduces reliance on fossil fuels and helps lower carbon emissions.

The ENGWE X26 all-terrain e-bike is an affordable long-term transportation solution that combines power and performance to handle any road with ease. Equipped with a 1000W motor, it reaches speeds up to 31 mph and provides a reliable 750W output, making it ideal for rough terrains and long distances. With dual 48V batteries, it offers a 62-mile range which is 1.5 times more than typical e-bikes, and the option to swap out batteries for extended trips. Its 26″ x 4″ fat tires and triple shock suspension system provide excellent traction and comfort, even on rocky or bumpy paths.

This e-bike is designed for convenience and safety as the ENGWE X26 features a foldable aluminum frame for easy storage, along with a large LCD display to track speed, distance, and battery life. Its bright headlights and powerful brake lights enhance visibility for safer rides, day or night. The e-bike’s performance and durability make it a sustainable and efficient alternative to cars, perfect for urban commuting or outdoor adventures.

GameSir teases Game Boy-style mini controller for phones at Tokyo Game Show

Gaming handhelds have spiced up the market for gamers who love some action on the go, but there is another section of gamers who utilize their smartphone for their gaming cravings. Phones these days are more than capable of playing AAA mobile titles, and the screen real estate is the perfect ground for exploring the nostalgic arcade games. Xiaomi has just shown us how to make the most of the dual screen on the 17 Pro Max for exploring addictive arcade games like Angry Birds, with an optional add-on case designed specifically for the purpose.

GameSir has also been working on utilizing the processing capability, impressive display, and form factor of your smartphone to bring back the old-school joy of Game Boy fun. Sure, there are conventional gaming controllers for phones like their G8 Plus, or other options from the likes of Razer, Backbone, and Asus; still, the lure of a classic Game Boy-like accessory is hard to suppress.

Designer: GameSir

At Tokyo Game Show 2025, the Chinese gaming accessory maker showed off a Game Boy-style accessory that should make old-school gaming a whole lot interesting on phones. The clip-on Bluetooth controller is the ideal mix of classic gaming charm with a touch of modern influence. This mini controller was displayed at their official booth at the event alongside other controllers in the lineup, so we can expect an official release sooner rather than later. By the look of things, the compact gamepad clings to any phone from the bottom, and reminds me of the Hyperkin Smart Boy released quite a few years back.

The clip-on controller has movable arms to fit any phone measuring 6.5 inches or less. The controller itself measures 4.5 inches wide and 2 inches thick, turning your phone into a pseudo Game Boy, around about the same height. To keep the weight to a minimum, GameSir looks to have used a durable plastic material that should only add 150 grams to your phone’s weight. A sizeable USB-C cutout at the bottom should align with most smartphones for pass-through charging during gaming. The built-in battery on this one should last around 8-10 hours for a whole day’s fun.

Since this is a Bluetooth gamepad, low-latency mode will keep things smooth just like the G8 Plus controller, which impresses with its seamless performance. Coming onto the tactile input, the mini controller has clicky buttons and a D-pad, which is surrounded by two extra buttons that can be programmed as C and D for expanded functionality when gaming with emulators. Shoulder buttons on the rear are placed ergonomically for quick access in compatible games.  The implementation of the design is done perfectly, as this gamepad should be a good option for casual gamers who love to turn up the heat during boring commutes.

vibrant blue facade brings new life to the monk retreat on leros island, greece

a+ architects Create a Minimalist Retreat in Leros

In the heart of the Aegean, on the island of Leros, Greece, The Monk by a+ architects emerges as a sanctuary that redefines the meaning of hospitality through architectural simplicity and an atmosphere of serenity. The residence, carefully revived with respect for local tradition, blends elements of island modernism with clean, minimalist lines.

The interiors follow a restrained aesthetic, where white light, natural textures, and linen fabrics highlight the essence of the place: authenticity, calmness, and timelessness. The choice of materials, stone, wood, linen, and handcrafted objects, serves as a bridge between the island’s environment and a universal language of contemporary design. The space conveys a sense of ‘monastic’ simplicity, translated into a form of luxury that is rooted in experience rather than display.

The Monk Blends Island Tradition with Contemporary Design

The architecture of The Monk is not just a shelter; it is a narrative. A story of light shifting through the day, of tactile sensations unfolding in linen, of silence embracing the guest. A house that reflects the dialogue between the island’s history and today’s quest for depth and essence. The design team at a+ architects considers The Monk as not a hotel, but a living organism of hospitality, an experience shaped by space and detail, ultimately leaving guests with the feeling of having stayed in a house with a soul.

5 Most Spectacular LEGO Creations That Dominated September 2025

September 2025 was one of those months that reminded us why we fell in love with LEGO in the first place. From custom builds that pushed technical boundaries to official releases that captured pop culture magic, builders around the world delivered creations that left us genuinely impressed. The variety was staggering – rally cars with working engines, coffee machines that actually brewed espresso, and basketball sets that made you want to shoot hoops.

What made these builds special wasn’t just their complexity or piece counts. Each one told a story, whether it was honoring motorsport legends, celebrating street culture, or bringing animated music videos to life. These weren’t just impressive displays of building skill – they were love letters to the things that matter to their creators. The passion behind each build was unmistakable, transforming plastic bricks into something meaningful and genuinely exciting.

1. TOMOELL’s Colin McRae Subaru Impreza WRC: Rally Legend in Brick Form

Rally racing doesn’t get much more iconic than Colin McRae’s Subaru Impreza WRC, and TOMOELL’s brick recreation captures everything that made this car a legend. The deep blue body with classic “555” livery graphics, those unmistakable gold wheels, the aggressive hood scoop, and that rear wing – every detail screams 1990s championship glory. This isn’t just a model car; it’s a tribute to one of motorsport’s greatest eras, built with the kind of attention that only comes from genuine passion.

The builder clearly spent serious time getting the proportions right, and it shows in every angle. The car sits with that perfect rally stance, looking ready to tear through a forest stage at any moment. What really sets this apart are the working features – a hood that opens to reveal a detailed boxer engine, a trunk with a spare wheel, and steering that actually turns. It’s interactive in ways that bring the whole experience to life.

2. CorporalSpikyCockroach’s LEGO Nespresso Machine: Brewing Up Brick Magic

Sometimes, the most delightful LEGO builds are the ones that take everyday objects and transform them into something unexpectedly charming. CorporalSpikyCockroach’s Nespresso machine does exactly that, turning your morning coffee ritual into pure brick-building joy. The builder nailed all the details that make a Nespresso instantly recognizable – the sleek proportions, the pod insertion lever, even that distinctive modern aesthetic that coffee machines have embraced in recent years.

What makes this build special is its completeness. This isn’t just a coffee machine sitting alone – it’s a whole coffee experience in miniature. The tiny espresso cup with golden coffee inside, the multiple pods ready for brewing, and even the drip tray catch your attention. You find yourself wishing it actually worked, though the building experience probably gives you just as much satisfaction as that morning caffeine hit would provide.

3. LEGO’s Official Nike Collaboration: Slam Dunk and Trickshot Sets Take the Court

LEGO’s partnership with Nike hit nothing but net this September with two basketball-themed sets that perfectly capture street culture energy. The collaboration feels authentic rather than corporate, probably because both brands understand what makes basketball culture so compelling. These aren’t just sneaker displays – they’re dynamic scenes that tell stories about athletic achievement, urban creativity, and that perfect moment when skill meets opportunity on the court.

The Slam Dunk set freezes that magical moment when a player hangs in the air, defying gravity just long enough to posterize the competition. The articulated figure lets you recreate different poses, from the initial leap to the rim-rattling finish. Meanwhile, the Trickshot set gets wonderfully surreal, with a minifigure launching from inside a Nike Dunk sneaker toward an unseen basket – pure basketball fantasy made tangible through clever design.

4. LEGO Star Wars Death Star Ultimate Collector Series: The Dark Side’s Greatest Achievement

When LEGO decides to go big, they really go big. The Death Star Ultimate Collector Series isn’t just large – it’s massive, demanding, and absolutely worth every piece of the 9,023-brick journey. This isn’t your typical spaceship model that sits on a shelf looking pretty. It’s a vertical empire of scenes, memories, and movie magic stacked into one towering tribute to the original Star Wars trilogy that commands attention from across the room.

Standing over 20 inches tall, this beast recreates iconic locations from all three original films inside its spherical frame. The trash compactor, Palpatine’s throne room, Leia’s cell – they’re all here, waiting to transport you back to those first moments of Star Wars wonder. Building this feels less like assembling a model and more like constructing a piece of cinema history, one brick at a time, with each section bringing back memories.

5. Shirbler’s Gorillaz Flying Windmill Island: Feel Good Inc. in LEGO Form

Music videos rarely translate well into physical form, but Shirbler’s Flying Windmill Island proves that some concepts are too good to leave in 2D. This recreation of the iconic location from Gorillaz’s “Feel Good Inc.” captures both the melancholy and whimsy of the original animation. The floating island concept works perfectly in LEGO form, where impossible architecture becomes completely natural and surprisingly touching, especially with that working windmill mechanism.

At around 1,800 pieces, this hits that sweet spot where ambition meets achievability. The working windmill mechanism isn’t just for show – it’s essential to the experience, bringing kinetic life to what could have been a static display. Watching those brown lattice blades turn while 2D sits lonely at the island’s edge creates a surprisingly emotional connection to the source material that few LEGO builds manage to achieve.

Looking Back on an Incredible Month

September 2025 reminded us that LEGO culture has never been stronger or more diverse. These five builds represent different corners of the community, from technical automotive enthusiasts to pop culture storytellers, from official collaborations to deeply personal fan projects. Each one brought something unique to the table, whether it was engineering innovation, creative part usage, or just pure joy in recreating beloved subjects with plastic bricks.

What struck us most about this month wasn’t just the technical skill on display, but the genuine passion behind each creation. These builders weren’t just showing off – they were sharing pieces of themselves, their interests, their memories, and their dreams. That’s what makes LEGO building more than just a hobby. It’s a way of connecting with the things we love and sharing that connection with others who understand the magic found in possibility.

wearable controller GO-OZ resembling sandals lets users walk and move around VR games

Button-free walking using wearable VR controller GO-OZ

The wearable sandal-like controller named GO-OZ allows users to walk and move around VR games without any buttons or control sticks. Instead of using a handheld controller, the device relies on people’s legs and feet, as the system digitally tracks natural steps and translates them into movement inside the virtual world and game.

Most of the VR games today need handheld controllers before the users can fully play them since the movement is simulated using the buttons and thumbsticks. GO-OZ tries to bridge this gap by allowing the players to directly use their feet and legs and give them the sensation that they’re walking and moving around what they’re playing. The wearable VR controller GO-OZ heads to Tokyo, Japan, for the Tokyo Game Show 2025, where visitors can try on the prototype on-site between September 25th and 28th.

all images courtesy of GO-OZ

Foot-worn device with adjustable straps

The wearable VR controller GO-OZ can adapt to any feet size, even while the players are wearing their shoes, because of the adjustable straps. The foam-like and soft bottom part is chunky and curvy to allow the users to tilt forward and backward. This area also houses the sensors of the device, which measure foot pressure, step length, and rhythm. They also detect when the wearer lifts a foot, shifts weight, or pushes forward. The device is linked to VR software through a wireless connection or cable, depending on the setup. Once connected, every natural step is translated into forward, backward, or sideways movement inside the VR world.

During the prototype debut at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, attendees are seen to put on the wearable VR controller GO-OZ and tilt themselves forward to walk and backward to reverse. So far, the system uses the sensors more around the feet to detect the movement, so players don’t need to actually walk around. They can stay in place and just lean depending on where the player is heading in the VR game. At the present time, there’s only a prototype available for the wearable VR controller GO-OZ, and the design team has yet to announce its commercial and potential availability. When this happens, it may be possible that they upgrade the design, which can allow the players to physically walk around a designated space instead of just tilting.

Microsoft’s ROG Xbox Ally X Hits $999: Premium Handheld Gaming Gets Laptop Pricing

Microsoft and ASUS opened preorders today for their first Xbox-branded handheld gaming devices, with the ROG Xbox Ally X launching at $999.99 – a price point that positions it closer to gaming laptops than traditional consoles. The standard ROG Xbox Ally arrives at $599.99, creating a two-tier strategy targeting PC gaming enthusiasts willing to pay laptop prices for portable Windows gaming rather than Nintendo’s mainstream console audience.

Designer: ASUS + Microsoft

Both models ship October 16th with international availability across 38 countries, making the $649 Steam Deck OLED appear relatively affordable by comparison.

ROG Xbox Ally X Specs: Major Performance Jump From Previous Generation

The Xbox Ally X features AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, while the standard Xbox Ally uses the new AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor. According to ASUS testing, the Ally X delivers up to 30% performance increases in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages compared to the previous-generation ROG Ally X model from 2024.

Battery life improvements prove equally dramatic. ASUS testing shows the new Xbox Ally X provides up to twice the battery life when playing Hollow Knight: Silksong compared to the previous 2024 ROG Ally X. The standard Xbox Ally offers up to 110% more battery life versus the original 2023 ROG Ally in similar gaming scenarios.

The performance gains stem from both processor improvements and larger battery capacity. The Xbox Ally X houses a 80Wh battery with 24GB LPDDR5X-8000 memory and 1TB M.2 SSD storage. The standard Xbox Ally uses a 60Wh battery, 16GB LPDDR5-6400 memory, and 512GB M.2 SSD storage. Both models support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), and AMD Fluid Motion Frames frame generation for up to 60% better frame rates.

Both models feature identical 7-inch FHD (1080p) IPS displays with 500 nits brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and FreeSync Premium support. The displays use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with Corning DXC Anti-Reflection coating for improved outdoor visibility.

Pre-Order Incentives Include $500+ Accessory Bundle Giveaway

ASUS launched a pre-order promotion offering customers chances to win accessory bundles valued at over $500. The giveaway includes ROG Strix Arion external SSD enclosure, ROG Raikiri controller, ROG Cetra True Wireless SpeedNova Gaming Earbuds, ROG Bulwark TV dock/USB hub, and ROG Xbox Ally 2-in-1 premium case.

ROG Elite Rewards members receive additional opportunities to win ROG OMNI mascot figurines. The main giveaway runs from September 25 to October 11, while the figurine promotion extends through October 25. Both promotions remain limited to United States customers only.

Xbox Ally Pre-Order Bonus: Windows Interface Simplification

Microsoft’s new Windows handheld build promises to eliminate the desktop complexity that has plagued previous Windows gaming handhelds. The interface hides Windows Explorer and the traditional desktop environment, freeing memory resources that typically consume 3-4GB of RAM. Navigation becomes controller-first from bootup, allowing users to access game libraries and adjust system settings through Xbox-style menus without touching keyboard shortcuts or desktop applications.

According to Microsoft, the streamlined experience prioritizes controller navigation over traditional Windows workflows, potentially delivering the console simplicity that handheld PC gaming has long promised. However, compatibility with existing Steam libraries and Windows applications remains unproven until devices reach consumers.

Exclusive vs. Mass Market Retail Distribution Strategy

ASUS chose different retail strategies for each model that reveal distinct target audiences. The $999.99 Xbox Ally X launches exclusively through Best Buy, the ASUS Shop, and Microsoft’s direct channels in the United States – premium product treatment with limited availability and high-touch retail experiences.

The $599.99 Xbox Ally receives broader distribution across Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Microsoft, the ASUS Shop, and Ant Online. The wider availability suggests Microsoft expects higher volume sales at the lower price point while betting profit margins live in the premium tier.

International pricing reveals significant value perception challenges across regions. Canadian customers face $1299 CAD for the X model – nearly $950 USD at current exchange rates, making it more expensive than many gaming laptops available locally. European pricing lands at €899 and UK customers see £799, creating premium positioning that may limit mainstream adoption outside the United States.

Premium Handheld Gaming Market Takes Shape

The Xbox Ally X enters an increasingly expensive handheld gaming landscape where $999 pricing has become commonplace. MSI’s Claw 8 AI Plus launched at $999 earlier this year, while Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 commands $1,349 for similar AMD Z2 Extreme specifications.

The pricing escalation reflects component realities: delivering laptop-class performance requires laptop-class components, cooling systems, and battery capacity. Premium handheld gaming now costs as much as gaming laptops, fundamentally changing the market dynamics from Nintendo’s affordable console approach.

October Launch Timing Creates Review Pressure

The October 16th ship date positions both Xbox Ally models for holiday sales competition, but creates unusual timing pressure with review embargoes lifting October 15th – just one day before retail availability. Short review windows typically signal cautious product rollouts, limiting comprehensive testing coverage before launch.

Microsoft’s handheld gaming strategy represents the company’s biggest portable gaming bet since the original Xbox launch. The success depends on whether PC gaming enthusiasts will choose familiar Windows compatibility over Steam Deck’s Linux limitations at laptop pricing levels.

The Xbox Ally launch establishes handheld gaming as a premium market segment, but whether consumers embrace $999 portable gaming remains the critical question heading into holiday 2025.

leinemann | ortiz learns from termite mounds with ‘solum’ garden office in brazil

A Living Urban Oasis in brazil

Solum, a new concept by Leinemann | Ortiz, introduces a garden-office typology to Cuiabá, Brazil. Conceived as the first building within the GS Headquarters masterplan, the project extends the ambition of transforming an arid site into a thriving urban ecosystem that merges workspace with public green space.

The design brings a natural landscape to the city center, embedding native flora to attract birds and small wildlife alongside daily visitors. Commercial floors, co-working areas, restaurants, a gym, and an event space are organized around a public park, allowing work and leisure to flow into one another while supporting a diverse community of users.

Leinemann | Ortiz learns from termite mounds

With the design of its project, Solum, the architects at Leinemann | Ortiz form draw from the self-ventilating structure of termite mounds. A tall central atrium functions as a shaded chimney, channeling air to enhance cross-ventilation and reduce heat gain. This passive system creates a cooler microclimate, encouraging people to spend time outdoors even in Cuiabá’s intense heat.

The building employs a hybrid construction of cross-laminated timber and concrete, reducing embodied carbon while maintaining structural efficiency. This material strategy supports the broader environmental goals of the GS Headquarters masterplan and sets a precedent for green buildings in the region.

As the first of three planned structures, Solum defines the character of the overall development led by Victor Ortiz and Obreval Arquitetura. Together, these mixed-use towers will create a self-sustaining ecosystem with a central lake that moderates temperature and brings a calming place for both workers and visitors.

Inside, the atrium offers filtered sunlight and a direct visual link to surrounding gardens, while offices and public areas open onto shaded terraces. The spatial sequence reinforces the sense of working within a landscape, framing views of native plantings and the evolving city beyond.

With its biomimetic ventilation strategy and layered public amenities, Leinemann | Ortiz demonstrates how architecture can restore ecological balance while shaping a contemporary workplace. As the GS Headquarters masterplan advances, this first building signals a shift toward resilient, nature-integrated urban design in Brazil.

The Fastest (and Cheapest) Way To Grow Your Own Groceries In Your Kitchen Garden

Veggies for free, growing at home, without soil, without sun, and with hardly any human intervention. You don’t need to drive to Whole Foods or the local farmers’ market to pick up ingredients for a salad, and you sure as hell don’t need to pay nearly 4 bucks for a bag of kale, or 6 dollars for cherry tomatoes. All you need to do is walk to your kitchen, and the Indoor Hydroponic Tower provides for you. I’m not saying this as a blogger, I’m saying this as someone who’s grown his own hydroponic veggies in his own home.

Last year I splurged for a hydroponic kit, and although it did feel like a bit of a learning curve adjusting from soil-based plants to hydro-based ones, I managed to grow Italian basil and spinach in a month, and my own San Marzano tomatoes in 2 months. In fact, I harvested my own habaneros on Monday. The cost of all this? Practically nothing – I saved seeds and planted them in my hydroponic tower. A month later, free produce that I would otherwise pay big bucks for. While my hydroponic kit is fairly basic (it needs sunlight), this one from TGTOWFC handles everything from seed to soil, and from sunlight to water. All you do is ‘load’ a seed into a biodegradable sponge, place it in a pod in the planter, and you’re set. The 48L combined tank gives your plant just the right amount of water, while a sunlight-mimicking LED array imitates the outdoors, giving you a lush kitchen garden inside your own house.

A few key aspects make this Indoor Hydroponic Tower different. For starters, most towers are designed with a certain template in mind – a light, a tray, and a water reservoir. Everything’s either controlled by a timer, or an advanced computer that adjusts based on your plants and your environment. The TGTOWFC tower has a few key differences. For starters, the entire tower boasts a vertical design that has multiple stacked layers that let you grow as many as 48 plants in 1 single tower. That essentially means 8 plants divided across 6 platforms. Each platform has its own dedicated light and draws water from the main reservoir. In essence, each of the 6 trays is essentially its own hydroponic setup. The entire setup is also built with wheels, so you can move the tower around pretty easily, keeping it in the living room for the foliage, and moving it to the kitchen for access to your greens.

The ability to grow 48 plants means you can basically turn a small 3 sq.ft. space on your floor into an entire produce aisle. The tower supports veggies, leafy greans, herbs, or even decorative and flowering plants. If you’d like to turn the tower into a facade of flowers for your home, this device totally can, although as someone who’s successfully grown his own spinach, basil, and tomatoes, there’s an entirely separate kind of joy simply plucking leaves and veggies from your own plant setup. Food could literally not get fresher! And when you see the food right in front of your eyes, you’re more likely to eat healthier because it’s as easy as opening the fridge to pick out that packet of half-eaten Doritos.

So how do you ‘grow’ your own veggies? The short answer is that you don’t. The tower handles practically everything for you. Full-spectrum LED lighting handles your plants’ sunrise to sunset requirements, mimicking exactly the sun’s intensity level throughout the day. An independent 24L water reservoir at the bottom holds enough water for all your plants, but each individual tray has 4L of water storing capacity too, bringing the total to a whopping 48L. That’s enough to leave your plants for weeks without any maintenance and have the tower handle growth itself. a 5.6″ display gives you all the info you need, and an optional smartphone app can also pass that information to your phone (along with a bit of control), so you know when the water is too much or too little, allowing you to adjust accordingly. The tower handles the rest, distributing water and sunlight accordingly to each individual tray.

This process, for the uninitiated, has some fairly impressive merits. For starters, no soil means drastically reduced chances of pests and infections. The soil-free approach is less messy too, and makes the entire setup lightweight because 90% of any planter’s weight is usually its soil. Here, the water is what gives the tower its equilibrium, and the plants their nutrition. As someone who’s simultaneously tried to grow spinach the regular and hydroponic way, the latter is nearly 2x as fast, giving you foolproof results in weeks instead of months. Once the plant’s had its run, simply ditch the pod and replace it with a new one. While certain plants like tomatoes and basil can grow indefinitely, lettuce, coriander, and spinach sort of have a shelf life, and can only be consumed up to a certain plant stage.

The LCD color display shows you a variety of metrics, from water level and pH level to pump status, light brightness, ambient temperature, time of the day, and even a day-count so you can see how long it’s taken to go from seed to sapling to a proper fruit/veggie-bearing plant. Each tray also sits on a height-adjustable column, and for plants that require support, a snap-on guardrail ensures your tomato vines have a support structure, or your iceberg lettuce doesn’t spill over the tray and potentially fall out of the designated pod.

The Indoor Hydroponic Tower comes in two variants – a 4-tier one that starts at $379 (offering space for 32 plant pods), and a 6-tier one for $449 (with space for 48 pods). The biodegradable sponges cost $10 for 48 pieces (you can keep buying more ones as the sponges get used up), and the plant nutrition (which comes in liquid form) costs another $6, although you can pretty much buy any hydroponic plant food online. My tip is to choose a food that works for both leafy and flowering/fruiting plants, since only a leaf-friendly nutrient won’t promote fruit growth and vice versa. A balance is healthy, and should turn your portable tower into your own patch of greenery so you don’t have to shell out big bucks for veggies in this economy! The towers ship globally starting December 2025, so you can kickstart your new year with healthy eating and reduced grocery bills. You’ll thank me later.
