Perkins&Will develops Figueira Leopoldo for MPD Construtora and Helbor Empreendimentos, located in the Itaim Bibi district of São Paulo. The residential tower combines architectural clarity with a kinetic-inspired facade system that establishes a dialogue between art, movement, and the urban environment.
The project draws inspiration from the kinetic art of Brazilian artist Abraham Palatnik, translating his exploration of light, rhythm, and perception into a dynamic architectural form. Wooden panels and movable brise-soleil run across the facades, allowing residents to control light and privacy while creating shifting patterns visible from the street. These mobile elements contribute both to environmental performance, through solar and ventilation regulation, and to the building’s visual identity, as their movement alters the facade’s appearance depending on time of day and viewing angle.

Standing 115 meters tall, the building contains 32 residential units, including garden and duplex apartments. The structure is organized to promote openness and spatial flexibility, with floor plans designed to accommodate multiple configurations. Large openings enhance cross-ventilation and daylight access, while interior gardens introduce greenery and natural materials into the living spaces, reinforcing comfort and connection with nature. To maximize efficiency and views, the tower is divided into two functional zones, social and service areas, allowing uninterrupted 360° perspectives in living spaces. The ground level extends this openness to the urban fabric, where a stone and wood base combined with landscaped areas establishes a visual and physical connection between the building and the street.
Common spaces include landscaped gardens, a lounge, a playroom, a swimming pool, a spa, and a fitness center, with interiors designed by Carlos Rossi and landscaping by Benedito Abbud. Native plant species were selected to enhance environmental integration and reduce maintenance needs. Each apartment is provided with four parking spaces, with garden and duplex units featuring an additional spot. Through the interplay of kinetic facade systems, natural materials, and flexible spatial planning, studio Perkins&Will’s Figueira Leopoldo project reinterprets high-rise living as a dialogue between environmental performance, artistic expression, and urban continuity.

You know how some designs just make you stop scrolling? That’s exactly what happened when I came across this bladeless fan by Foshan Perfect Industrial Design. It’s not your typical circular fan that we’ve all gotten used to seeing since Dyson popularized the concept. This one’s rocking a square base, and honestly, it’s kind of genius.
Let me explain why this caught my attention. We’ve been conditioned to think that fans, bladeless or not, should be round. It makes sense, right? Air flows in circular patterns, so circular fans seem like the natural choice. But here’s where this design gets interesting. The team behind this fan decided to challenge that assumption and built their concept around a square-based design language. And it’s not just about being different for the sake of standing out.

The real innovation here is what they’re calling 5D air circulation. Now, I’ll admit that sounds like marketing speak at first, but stick with me. Traditional bladeless fans work by hiding a propeller in the base that sucks air in and pushes it through a ring-shaped opening. The expelled air creates what’s called negative pressure, which pulls even more surrounding air through the ring, multiplying the airflow by up to 15 times.
This square design takes that concept and apparently amplifies it with a focused air duct system. Instead of just sending air in one general direction like circular fans tend to do, this focused duct system accelerates and directs the airflow more precisely. Measuring just 30 feet (9.14 meters) long, this tiny house manages to feel surprisingly spacious while remaining easy to tow. Built on a robust triple-axle trailer, the home is compact by North American standards yet far more generous than many European counterparts. This makes it a great fit for a small family looking for mobility and comfort without sacrificing style or functionality.

Quartz countertops and extensive cabinetry provide ample storage and workspace, while a two-person breakfast bar serves as a convenient dining area or a flexible workspace. While the space isn’t intended for large dinner parties, it’s certainly equipped for everyday family meals and the occasional gathering of close friends.

Prolo Ring is a wearable computer mouse with a trackpad designed to control computers, smartphones, TVs, and other gadgets. It allows the user to control a screen without using a traditional mouse or touchscreen and gives full cursor control, shortcuts, and over forty gestures. With these gestures, users can point, click, scroll, take selfies, play and pause music, adjust volume, move through slides, or run preset commands.
The wearable computer mouse ring connects through Bluetooth and works directly with computers, tablets, smartphones, and smart TVs. Because it supports major operating systems such as Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, it can work with almost every device and can run without software or installing drivers. The device is said to use a patented technology called Modtouch, which combines a two-zone touch surface and a motion sensor. The touch surface includes a Trackpad and a Modstrip, allowing finger movements to control the cursor and gestures. Then, the six-axis motion sensor detects hand movements and helps translate them into screen actions.

The trackpad, the one easily reachable by the thumb, is made with high-resolution capacitive sensors that give the wearable computer mouse ring precise cursor control. Around the device, the sensors and integrated circuits help detect finger pressure and direction for accurate response. The Prolo Ring also acts as a smart power system, which means it goes into sleep mode when not in use and wakes up within 0.2 seconds when the user moves or touches it to save battery power. The device is designed to be ambidextrous, meaning it can be used on either hand, and the software inside the ring automatically adjusts the control direction when worn on the opposite hand.
The ring works right out of the box, but there is an optional desktop app called Prolo Studio, an app that lets users customize how the accessory behaves. Through the app, users can change gestures, assign keyboard shortcuts, and create macros. A macro is a sequence of commands that can be run with a single motion, so, for example, a user can create a macro to open an app, type a command, and play music. The wearable computer mouse ring’s physical design is minimal and button-free, and the band is wide and smooth to fit comfortably on the finger. It is made in three finishes: Champagne Gold, Future Silver, and Carbon Black. The only thing worse than ‘Floor is Lava’ is probably ‘Floor is LEGO Brick’. LEGO bricks are famously torturous to step on. The studs, the sharp corners, the unforgiving plastic, all of these combine into creating something that feels like modern day torture. Step on a lego brick with enough body-weight and that thing practically digs into your tissue, causing probably one of the most painful experiences according to the internet. However, what if there was a ‘right’ way of stepping on LEGO bricks?
No, I’m not talking about some mind-over-body nonsense where you overcome your ability to feel pain. LEGO builder eat.sleep.build.repeat. designed a foot reflexology mat using just LEGO bricks, tapping into ancient eastern healing techniques to create a stimulating mat that helps you boost blood flow to your legs and to even other parts of the body. Made from just 820 bricks, this piece, titled ‘How to Step on a LEGO Brick?’ is a rather fun and informative hat-tip to old culture, using modern-day plastic bricks. For context, a decent portable SSD like Samsung’s T7 will hit speeds over 1,000MB/s, and your laptop’s internal NVMe drive likely operates anywhere from 3,000 to 7,000MB/s. So, no, you will not be editing 4K video directly from this thing. Its tiny chassis also means it will almost certainly throttle under sustained load, a basic law of thermal dynamics.
So, the ideal use case is specific. This is the drive for your permanent media library, your collection of documents, or as a secondary backup target that just lives in your machine. It’s for the user who bought a 256GB MacBook Air and now regrets it. You offload the large, infrequently accessed files to the Extreme Fit and free up your precious internal storage for applications and active projects. It’s a set-it-and-forget-it solution for static data. If your workflow involves constantly moving gigabytes of data back and forth, you should look elsewhere. The convenience of its form factor is paid for with a performance compromise.

Electric racing has always been about progress—each generation of Formula E machinery redefining what’s possible for battery-powered performance. From the original Gen1 car that barely completed a race on a single battery to the sleek, aerodynamically advanced Gen3 that pushed 200 mph, every leap has mirrored the rapid evolution of EV technology itself. Now, the newly unveiled Gen4 signals another turning point; one that blends raw speed, cutting-edge control systems, and true sustainability into a single statement of intent for the sport’s future.
Set to debut in the 2026–27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, the Gen4 car represents a substantial step forward in both engineering and purpose. It delivers 450 kW (around 603 hp) in race trim and up to 600 kW (over 800 hp) in Attack Mode, nearly 200 hp more than the outgoing Gen3 machine. The boost is complemented by a new permanent all-wheel-drive system, which, unlike the Gen3’s limited use of front-axle regeneration, remains active throughout the race. This not only improves acceleration and grip but also introduces an unlimited traction control system and anti-lock braking for sharper, more consistent handling.
