From October 20th to 26th, 2025, Alex Da Corte\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designboom.com\/tag\/public-art\/\"><strong>artwork<\/strong><\/a> will occupy the sky, transforming the historic square into an unlikely stage for a scene of comic melancholy. For Da Corte, this strange, fleeting moment became a metaphor for exhaustion, resilience, and the dissonant cheer that often masks collective anxiety.<em> \u2018Since only the head gets torn, only a part deflates,\u2019<\/em> <strong>he explains.<\/strong> <em>\u2018It\u2019s between lives, between states.\u2019<\/em> Beneath the floating sculpture, a group of smiling performers dressed as Kermit, one possibly the artist himself, will keep the facade of optimism alive, <em>\u2018reminding us of the charade,\u2019<\/em> <strong>Da Corte says.<\/strong> <em>\u2018Their only task is to keep smiling and keep it moving. Between humor and pathos, the piece suspends its protagonist in a perpetual moment of defeat, exposing the vulnerability that underpins mass-produced optimism. <em>\u2018My interest in Kermit has been this \u201dIt\u2019s not easy being green\u201d thing,\u2019<\/em> <strong>the artist notes.<\/strong> <em>\u2018On one hand, green means green energy, being conscious of the environment; on the other, there\u2019s also the sense of being an alien, being marginalized, and that hardship. Here we see Kermit wearing it plainly on his face\u2014the facade drops when the camera isn\u2019t focused on you.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Kermit the Frog, Even, that joy becomes bittersweet, stretched thin like the green nylon skin of the balloon itself.
