Conceived by choreographer and dancer Daniel Proietto in collaboration with the Norwegian National Ballet, Know Nation, and Sn\u00f8hetta, Hidden unfolds across the monumental spaces of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designboom.com\/tag\/museums-galleries\/\"><strong>museum<\/strong><\/a> and its surrounding landscape, where the memory of cave art still lingers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For Sn\u00f8hetta, the project was an extension of longstanding concerns. <em>\u2018To honor the history and myths of Lascaux, we invited the Norwegian National Ballet and choreographer Daniel Proietto to interpret the spaces through dance,\u2019<\/em> <strong>describes founding partner Kjetil Tr\u00e6dal Thorsen.<\/strong><em> \u2018The result is a magnificent artistic performance\u2026 adding a completely new dimension to experiencing the wonder and history of Lascaux and the stories painted on its walls.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>all images and video by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oioioi.no\/\">OiOiOi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wow wow-yellow\">proietto\u2019s hidden Unfolds in the Shadows of Prehistoric Art<\/h2>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hidden was shaped specifically for the labyrinthine architecture of Lascaux IV <a href=\"https:\/\/lascaux.fr\/en\/\"><strong>center<\/strong><\/a>, designed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snohetta.com\/\"><strong>international architecture firm<\/strong><\/a> Sn\u00f8hetta with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sra-architectes.com\/en\">SRA Architectes<\/a><\/strong> and scenographers <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cassonmann.com\/\">Casson Mann<\/a><\/strong>. Since opening in 2016, the building has been recognized as both an immersive reconstruction of the caves discovered in 1940 and as a landmark of contemporary museography.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The performance was led by <a href=\"https:\/\/danielproietto.com\/\"><strong>Daniel Proietto<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/yolanda_correa_frias\/\"><strong>principal dancer<\/strong> <\/a>Yolanda Correa, who moved through flickering light and shadow guided by the spectral presence of a Minotaur figure. Their choreography drew on echoes of prehistoric rites, reframing cave painting as an early cinematic act. <em>\u2018Around 17,000 years ago, humans gathered at Lascaux in reverence, not to conquer, but to carve their dreams into stone,\u2019<\/em> <strong>Proietto reflects.<\/strong> <em>\u2018They understood something we are still trying to remember: that making a mark is not an act of power, but an act of belonging. Hidden honors their efforts and asks what kind of ancestors we are becoming.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The work resists spectacle, positioning dance instead as an act of remembrance and presence.
