The project explores how lightweight construction and accessible materials can create an alternative mode of transport with features that combine the advantages of both vehicle types.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Structurally, the Velocar is built from water and cooking-resistant birch plywood for the chassis, with canvas used for the body and seat. Additional parts are sourced from standard bicycle components or adapted from semi-finished industrial products. This choice of materials emphasizes recyclability, repairability, and accessibility, allowing the vehicle to be fabricated with basic hand tools, even in a DIY workshop environment. The hybrid design addresses specific functional needs. Compared to a bicycle, it offers a more comfortable seating position, weather protection, improved stability, and greater luggage capacity, with reduced wind resistance.
