And no, this isn\u2019t AI, it\u2019s hundred percent real\u2026 In fact, if you\u2019re a gamer in your late 40s (and beyond) and mildly irresponsible with money, please turn away immediately. The Atari Decanter is iconic, classy, and appeals to a unique niche of people \u2013 those who appreciate the finer things in life, but remember their roots.<\/p>\n
The game console that gave us Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Frogger, Pole Position, and a bunch of other iconic memories was retired in early 1992, but its influence lived on as it practically birthed an entire generation of early gamers. Every game that has ever come since has the Atari 2600 to thank for birthing a gaming movement, and while most of us who played with the hit console are now in our forties, fifties, and some even in their sixties, what better way to raise a toast to a stellar game console than to drink out of an Atari decanter?!<\/p>\n

The decanter itself is modeled on the CX-10 joystick, which came with the console. The console would let you plug a cassette into the front, while the joystick would be attached to the side via cable. That familiar input device which gathered hours of blood sweat and tears now sits and aerates your fine whiskeys and scotches. The joystick-shaped decanter measures 19 cm (7.5 inches) tall and has a 750 ml capacity (or about 25 ounces). It comes with a broad base and slender neck, a glass stopper, and even details like a button molded into the side (topped with red ink for flourish)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Each decanter also comes with two 300ml glasses, with Atari\u2019s logo emblazoned on the side in white. While I\u2019d personally love for the logo to be molded into the glass itself rather than painted on, that\u2019s what $125 USD will get you. To complete the set, you\u2019ve also got a display tray with the CX-10 joystick\u2019s production date (1977-1978) printed on it, along with Atari\u2019s slogan \u2013 Futuristic Since Forever.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
